This fly on the wall documentary was originally produced purely for the enjoyment of the cast and crew, during the final two performances of their 1992 pantomime, The Princess and the Pea. There's a lot of wobbly footage and nonsense going on, but for anyone who came to enjoy The Athenaeum Variety Group pantomimes each year, it may provide some interest and enjoyment! The dressing rooms and old foyer feature, along with footage of the auditorium with its old yellow seats - just before they were replaced with much more comfortable ones! What hopefully comes across is what a a happy bunch the group were, with members of all ages working and having fun with a common purpose: to put on the best pantomime they could each year. Their audiences came from all generations, many of whom returned year after year, and their loyal support was always very much appreciated. The Athenaeum Variety Group disbanded in 1996 after producing the town's annual pantomime for more than 25 years.
