What about the inside of the flute? What oil do you use for it and how often / when should you oil the inside?

So informative, thank you. I've made my first hand drum last weekend, and it has been drying for four days. This helped me alot, thank you.

Wonderful video. Thank you. And to preserve the painting do you cover whole drum with varnish or just the painting? Can I use a spray varnish to cover the drum?

Stupid question, but can I just blow some air through it to quickly dry it out, I have a Dyson blow dryer without heat…it’s pretty powerful.

You can’t, we would still recommend leaving the saddles off for some time thought 🙏

I DIDN’T KNOW HE PASSED!!! I’ve been listening to his music ever since I was a child. That was how I got introduced to ancient Mexican culture (Mayan, Mexica, Zapotec, etc) and Native American flute. I recently bought a Mayan inspired flute because of his fantastic music. I am very saddened about the news you gave us. I still listen to his music almost daily. Rest in Paradise Yxayotl 🇲🇽😔

Hello :) thank you for your video, I have a beautiful native American flute that I've owned for about a year or so now, Im still learning to play so I haven't played it a ton yet and it has gone through some stages of not being played for a little while. I didn't know that I had to take it apart after playing for 5 minutes and give it a shake to get all the moisture out. Usually I would leave it out of the case although I began traveling around 5 and a half months ago and since then it has always stayed inside the bag.. Even after playing it. I recently noticed it has changed in how it sounds with the top notes being squeeky even when the holes are properly covered. Is this something I can tepair?? Or will I need to get a new flute all together?

Thank you for such an informative video, I wasn't aware of the need to care for my flute in this way and noticed it's started to sound squeaky with the bottom 3 holes covered and even worse with the bottom holes uncovered. The top holes have no gaps from my fingers so this made me search for flute maintenance.. I am also travelling and I do have it well wrapped in my bad when it goes under the plane.. Is there a way I can fix the sound of my flute? From now on I will clean and dry it after every use.

I heard from my flute maker to not shake the saliva out. He said to blow through the mouth peice and dab the saliva from there. Are both methods okay? Also, I love to play a lot throughout the day. Is this bad for the flute? I get the liquid out often but I'm sure a small amount is always left in. Is there an oiling process as well?
@QuetzalcoatlMusic5 ай бұрын
I have always suggested the shake method, never had an issue with it. Yes no problem playing throughout the day, if you remember maybe just overnight leave the saddles off so the flute can dry completely. We do have an oiling video as well, but that video is only suggest for our flutes. Some makes use different oils or even lacquers 🙏

The sound of Native American instruments have always appealed to me. Thanks for giving me some insight into these instruments & their purpose. I have recently acquired a Native American flute & am learning how to play it. Not only do I like the instrument, now I have some understanding of it's history & meaning. I now see the importance of the trilogy so I will be adding a drum & rattle to the collection. Thanks.
