This is one of the best grades to teach when kids are wanting to learn. It's tough, though, to handle 15 to 20 at once. I've done it many times as a Sub. But I can see what a good teacher you are. You did a great job explaining why you are leaving. I'm sure your students really missed you.

I am so happy for you! I am also encouraged. I just turned in my portfolio draft, and I'm working on a case study for my final course. Please look into Montessori nomenclature language baskets and miniature objects. The miniatures act as realia that provide relevance/meaningful language input and build vocabulary. I will share a link when I find one...

Sad the timing was in mid school year. Not a criticism, I was a sub for years for special education and was a familiar figure when teachers were sick, or on leave so when I had do stop mid-year it broke my heart.

Great video. I’ve been teaching for 19 years, and it took me 17 of those years to realize that the key to improving the “life expectancy” of teachers in the classroom is to stop saying and thinking “students come first”! Until you realize and accept the fact that teachers and students are equally important in the space, your work life will continue to be a burden. I’m guilty too.

this sounds like a parenting issue and you need a Teachers Assistant and to just shut your phone off. Learn to let go of control I'm a landlord I had to learn how to do this It took me 2 years if you miss something you miss something stop working beyond your scope of work if not you will DREAD your own phone it'll give you anxiety even the sound of the ring tone will make your blood pressure go up even the thought that you was possibly vibrating will give you anxiety

I recommend Google phone numbers that can be forwarded to your phone to protect those boundaries. Teacher for 10 years and instructional coach for 2 years.

The sad reality is that many people are not aware of the medical costs of teaching. Teachers suffer from obesity, stroke, hypertension, heart attack, weeping edema, urinary cancers, women-related cancers, drinking and drug problems, suicide, and death. Teachers in charter schools are paid substandard pay and have no real retirement for the future. Money for nothing?

Facilitated communication had been discredited decades ago, even when I was in grad school LONG ago. For true SLP inspiration definitely catch The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and read anything by Oliver Sacks ! and your video made me miss living in Bklyn a little bit .... loved summer there.

Teaching is hard, because teachers have to deal with students that have challenging behaviors. I live in New York and I work in a childcare center. And the new job I have the kids are so hard and challenging. And I have 5+ years in education.

I quit graduate school after two weeks! I took historical research methods first and the course was so ridiculous I decided to just quit. I ended up shipping out with the merchant marine for 8 years then instead of paying to go to 3rd deck officer’s cram school I got a BVR grant and went to barber college instead. Barbered for 20 years. Best thing about barbering is no paperwork.

as a former teacher, I wouldn’t not recommend anyone to get into this profession. Students are super disrespectful and we can’t say anything back. your mental health and self esteem gets crushed every other day.. Also schools don’t give a crap about staff members. They will fire you on the spot for anything!

SLP HERE …sounds like an area that is very foundational for not only higher level courses but also clinical practice. Were you supposed to code the sample ? As in each individual utterance ? How much detail did he give for the assignment ?
@Nicole.24236 ай бұрын
After we got 100 utterances, we needed to break each sentence into subject noun, head noun, auxiliary, head verb and verb categories. So if the sentence was “she’s running” she-subject, is-auxiliary, run-head verb, running-verb. FOR 100 Utterances?! Is that something we do often?!
@andrealevy2186 ай бұрын
@@Nicole.2423 If you ever plan to work with children and to do evaluations, ( you will have to for externships and clinical placements ) re- eval, assess throughout the therapy process, yes it can be important. Lots of students in schools have much more than articulation and this type of analysis will help to guide treatment, especially bilingual and ENL students. : )
