When I was in the education program it was drilled into us to embrace "Differentiated Instruction" - in other words every child treated like the individual they are, and teaching to each child's needs. I'm not saying it's always popular, but there was HUGE emphasis on it. Did they not do that in your program?

Not at all. This seems like it would’ve been very helpful to know though.

Too much focus on basic skills in public schools. You need to enrich students that are not behind. They should be separated and advanced from students that are not on grade level. Students who are behind should be forced to perform.

No child left behind. No student (in kindergarten) comes in knowing everything accurately. Review and routine allows everyone to learn and be allowed to be pushed when common knowledge is amongst the class. And.. I don’t teach in a public school.

Separated and advanced? There are small focus groups in specific subjects for that. However in a GENERAL education class separating “advanced” students is not conducive to enriching the entire class.

Wow, that’s so cool things ironed out well. I had a parent this year call me a bully, it took sometime and prayer, but I believe we’ve patched things up. It’s so hard doing all that we can and for it to go unseen and then be vocally unappreciated.

Agreed! We show up everyday and try our best and ultimately we are HUMAN sometimes I think parents don’t understand that.
