@chyrt Het verticale bereik van een 4G-zendmast, oftewel hoe hoog het signaal effectief reikt, is beperkter dan het horizontale bereik en wordt bepaald door de openingshoek van de antenne. Over het algemeen geldt: Verticale openingshoek: De meeste 4G-antennes zijn gericht naar de grond en hebben een openingshoek van ongeveer 5° tot 10°. Hierdoor wordt het signaal vooral horizontaal verspreid en minder omhoog gericht. Effectief bereik in hoogte: Het bereik in de hoogte is gemiddeld 100 tot 300 meter boven de zendmast, afhankelijk van het zendvermogen en de configuratie.

@@DutchFPVguy Starlink is coming out with direct to cell soon. Imagine putting some solar cells on that and having it connected to starlink. You could basically fly into remote areas without 4g and then just wait for things to charge up before you fly further.

@ It's not longer in production anymore sadly. So you have to be pre-owned. So it's really up to how the seller is. Sad as there aren't any drones like it out there right now, unless you build your own, but that's an entire other field park.

awesome video.. could this set up be used to film videos after a disaster like a tornado to capture the damage and surveil the area? is the video resolution high enough? like to wear it could be paused and zoom into look at roof damage and building damage? sorry that's a lot of questions I saw some for sale for about a thousand bucks on eBay but then there's all the other equipment that needs to be purchased also. what kind of a price tag would you put on the total setup?

The disco is available between 300 to whatever you want to pay for it. I never paid more as 250 Euro's for all of mine (got a few) , but since than the prices went up a bit The worst problem is sourcing the 4G DONGLE , the exact right model otherwise it won't work.. Batteries are still okay to find, and all Software is still online. You need to find someone who understands command line on windows. Since you need to tweak both the Sky controller and the Disco's C.H.U.C.k (the red thing inside) .. So overall, exclusive the Disco you are on: 2x24 dollar{ZOHD LIONPACK 7.4V 2S1P 3500mAh 18650 Li-ion}, let's say 50-80 dollar depending on your shop. Dongle was about 20 euros for me. Some cables, easy to find on Amazon or whatever, to combine both batteries (a splitter) . So overall I've not been over 250$/€ for the 4G long range setup.

Great video, but why so low over the motorway and just above power lines, Another 100feet (32M) and all would be safe and still have same great view. I first saw this mod by Dustin Dunhill in Hawaii. I still have the bebop2 which can also run with this mod, though the battery is more effecient on the disco, Same camera and controller. Camera at 1080P is still not so shabby.

Lovely video. I have a Disco and Parrot 2, both with the 4G mod. I think the biggest limitation now is that the onboard camera is not fantastic by 2024 standards. I think either a modern 4k small/light 360 cam or action cam would be interesting to try. I'm based in the UK, and flying beyond VLOS is not allowed, I guess that's true in most of continental Europe too. However, given the disco is light, and mostly foam I don't think it's dangerous as long as you don't fly directly over people, I wish there was a way to do this kind of flight in the countryside legally beyond VLOS, but it's a niche hobby. I think it's incredible that a hobby drone can get than kind of fpv range, with only minor modifications. In some ways Parrot was ahead of its time.

Nice clean setup you have there, did the same with my GPS tracker too. I was going to say if you feel like building a battery you can get even more time, I made a 3s2p out of 21700 cells thats good for about 10,000 MAH. Involves trimming the battery bay a little but not too bad and so far I usually have over 60% batt life left after one hour

Nice, mooie beelden! Mijn persoonlijke record met de 4G Disco is 55km, daarna was ik ook blij dat ik weer terug was want op laatst wordt 't best vermoeiend. Tenminste, als je een FPV bril draagt. Mijn maat vloog dezelfde dag 65km met z'n Disco. Ik had bij terugkomst nog 45% accu capaciteit! Het is een fenomenaal vliegtuigje. Het is alleen jammer dat het lastig is een goede 4K camera te monteren met beeldstabilisatie. Ik heb het eens geprobeerd met een Osmo pocket maar was daar niet zo blij mee gezien het gewicht en het is vrijwel onmogelijk een goede montageplek te vinden met die ellendige pitotbuis op de Disco :-P Gelukkig is de standaard camerakwaliteit acceptabel zo lang het maar mooi weer is. Onze ervaring is dat de focus slecht wordt bij lagere temperaturen. Happy flying!

Hey, Dank voor je berichtje die ik nu pas zie. Sorry voor mijn late reactie. Geweldig toestel is het. Ik vlieg niet met bril maar met een tablet. Geeft voor mij iets meer rust tijdens de vlucht. Ik heb nu vakantie en dus weer iets meer tijd. Dus het is weer eens tijd voor een longe range flight. Beeld kwaliteit vindt ik wel prima. Bij het editen zet ik de beelden wel om naar 4k. Dit scheelt een hoop als je het kijkt op KZbin via je tv. Fly safe bro Greets

@@DutchFPVguy ik heb dit jaar maar weinig gevlogen met de Disco. We treffen niet zulk best weer. De Disco ligt desondanks vliegklaar op onze boot. Ik wens je een goede vakantie en veel vlieguren.

The focus problem of the lens due to the decrease in temperature can be solved by installing a small heater on the lens barrel. If you take apart the $3 hand warmer, you can get all the materials you need, including an automatic temperature sensor and a control circuit

That's right. in the end I also have to take into account the flight back. so you have to keep a close eye on the battery capacity during the flight.

Hi DutchFPVguy, heel vet wat je hebt gedaan met deze parrot. Ik zou wellicht het zelfde willen gaan doen, maar kun je aangeven welk 4g modem je hebt gebruikt. De modems geadviseerd in de WIKI van uavpal lijken niet beschikbaar meer namelijk? Ben benieuwd naar jouw ervaringen. Ps de Amazon links zijn verlopen. bvd

Yo man, ik gebruik deze momenteel, Huawei E3372h. Deze werkt prima. Ik heb nog geen andere gebruikt.Deze zijn nog wel beschikbaar hoor. Je moet gewoon even goed googelen. En hou marktplaats ook even in de gaten. Ja de linkse, de meeste zijn inmiddels verlopen ofzo. Ik moet ze nog eens vervangen als ik tijd heb. Ik ben benieuwd naar je avontuur. Succes

Yo man, nee ik gebruik T-mobile netwerk. Zover ik kan beoordelen is dit het best dekkende netwerk. Check anders 4g dekkingskaart per netwerk op internet. Daar vind je een plaatje van Nederland. Handig als je een lange vlucht wilt inplannen. Je omzeilt dan de minder dekkende gebieden. Succes bro
