1:33 marcus 100% that is the ONLY smart way to run a reselling business list the good stuff first (the Homeruns) that will pay for the whole trip or the whole lot of items you got that day because even if it sits for years when those other items do sell those items are PURE profit meaning even after fees and business expenses are taken out there are no more COGS because again those first few items that are sold from a lot or a sourcing trips should pay for ALL the items its how i have run my reselling business for 26 years its how James runs his! i'm so glad your talking about this i know James has tried to explain it on his videos and i have tried to explain it in lives and in comments but again Thanks for Mentioning this because a lot people say oh its costing you money no because that inventory is already bought and paid for i can sit on it for however long i want and its not costing me money because its not selling the home runs are selling the mid grade is selling the slower movers they might sell right away but eventually they will sell and by the time the sell its pure profit and you really do not have to worry about COGS on those items because all the home runs (or good items) have long paid for the slower moving inventory

Resellers aren't doing the Lord's work, but they're not evil either. Unless they're a low-level reseller, the kind who are so small that they can return an item when it doesn't sell through, most resellers assume 110% of the risk of their inventory. Many resellers buy from wholesalers/distributors and import/export things, too. It's not just about going to the local Wal-mart, Marshalls, or Goodwill. It's about finding the best price. Because of resellers, you can buy things in the US that otherwise wouldn't be available. Resellers are merely discovering the right market price for an item. By taking an item global via the internet that otherwise would stay local, resellers find the most efficient price. There are losers and winners. The losers are the locals because it's harder for them to get a deal. The winners are the people on the internet, the delivery drivers, the platform, and myself. There is no right or wrong here, only the price.
@DixonsPickins2 күн бұрын
@@Matthew-be1nq I’m a Christian and while reselling may not be “the Lord’s work” it is how I do work for the Lord. It’s how I tithe and do mission work and it has given me a platform to reach others and be a blessing in certain people’s lives who otherwise would never hear anything about Jesus. There are levels to being a reseller. I take used clothes from the bins and resell an item with a stain or a hole on it to a person when a store deemed it as trash. Everyone has already made their money on this item and it’s no longer worth anything to them. I still see value and so does the person that buys it

I’m glad to see you come to your senses lol. No point in giving away good items for resellers to buy on Whatnot when you can sell them yourself and get the money. I spend all day looking for the good stuff - no way I’m giving it away for nothing. Keep up the good work Marcus.

Speaking for myself with buying items on whatnot, I'm perfectly fine buying distressed/stained stuff depending on the brand (definitely bought some thrashed silvertabs before). When it comes to flaws on most brands, the ROI shrinks drastically and isn't worth my time in the long run to make a few $ compared to taking that $ and going to my bins to get more items. I would argue that you arent running bad items, but it could be the ROI on that specific item. You also have to calculate shipping if someone is buying only 1 or 2 items. But I do agree that most people don't understand the value of certain items/brands on whatnot.
@DixonsPickins4 күн бұрын
Yeah I understand the ROI and the shipping on a total item. It makes sense because I take that into consideration when buying on whatnot and when buying wholesale from people. You have bought some items with distress and paint/stains from me so I know we think alike. There are items that sell for the starting bid and I’m not making enough on them that I think I will do better at putting those on eBay so I’m not wasting my time
