💯 Shane speaks with me regularly about the history of the steel and manufacturing industries in Australia and how they were effectively shut down over time. I don't know what's fact and what's opinion but I do know I value innovative product designs and improvements, built to a high standard. That's what Shane does! Pay him a visit if you're in WA, you won't regret it!

My clutch is stuck on at the motor
@LoveLarn4 ай бұрын
Some of them can be tight. Make sure it's not been welded onto the shaft as a starting point. Lots of penetrating oil/CRC in every nook and cranny. Take the clutch body apart if you haven't already and give it a bang towards the engine body. A bit of effort will usually get it off the shaft but if not you can lever between engine and clutch with a small bar or whatever you have... just go easy and avoid damaging engine/shaft/clutch. Add oil, repeat 👍

Been looking at your videos to assist with the replacement of my clutch and pto shaft. I noticed you had a clunk noise when engaging the clutch at full revs. I’m getting this clunk noise when I engage the reel at idle. Is there a way to stop this noise?
@LoveLarn4 ай бұрын
Have you tried easing the clutch lever into the engaged position? How much play do you have between clutch cone and PTO shaft? Might be worth pulling the clutch down to check the woodruff key and any other wear

I wouldn’t mind a SB45 but the price is way too high and I’ve only got 200m2 lawn so i had to buy a 20” Masport olympic brand new 2 grand sort of thing but its hassle free and the grass doesn’t know any different……..!!

Hey mate :) quick tip with the cork, apply adhesive to both sides, then hold the housing vertical on a desk, put one end of the cork into place from the inside and look through from the other side to see what’s going on, then gently work your way around gradually pressing it into place always looking from one side while placing it down from the other. Hard to explain, but that’s how I found it easiest :)

Hello, I'm about to embark on rebuilding my 14 inch. With the brass bushings within the ratchet boxes. Do you suggest replacing them with new ones as they're difficult to get to. I'm worried about breaking the ratchet boxes when removing the bushings. Appreciate the help and thank you for the series.
@LoveLarn7 ай бұрын
It's worth considering while the machine is torn down but not always necessary as the rear rollers don't rotate at high speed. If you've got the cash to spare and the means to press out the old and press in the new--and then ream, go for it. Might also be worth considering if you're also replacing the rear roller shaft. If none of the above applies, you'll likely be fine to leave :)

Thanks for creating this tutorial. I have shown before, but gave mine a go today and happy with the result. The only question that I have is the tightening of the nut below the adjustment screw, no matter how many times I turned it, it never tightened. Is this critical? Do I need a new “bolt”? I did tighten the outer nut that locks the adjustment in place. It cut very well.
@LoveLarn9 ай бұрын
Glad you found it helpful and got a good result! I wonder if the thread on the lower nut is stripped? Or, like you say, possibly the bolt thread itself. It's definitely not critical but will help hold your adjustment... definitely not OEM and an addition recommended by others. Perhaps something to look at the next time you pull the reel out or need to adjust.

That's for the vid mate Can you put the new aftermarket brass thrust pads on either way? Or do they just go on 1 way? Like the one you showed in the video at 2 mins has 2 different faces
@LoveLarn Жыл бұрын
Hey mate, the thrust pads typically have an oil hole so make sure that faces up. The grooves on the one face also mate with the clutch fork, with the flat face of the thrust pad sitting against the clutch cone (brass thrust pads are also typically used with a fibre washer between pad and cone)
@nigelthompson874 Жыл бұрын
Just repaired a broken twin rail deck. That repair looks neat as it’s out of sight. Unfortunately the strength is in the vertical not the horizontal plane. Better to run length of steel front and back in the vertical. Horizontal plane becomes insignificant, which it is anyway. Did mine on the outside. Not as pretty, but very strong
