That's a nice simulation. You were really ahead of the time. I made a tutorial for a coupled simulation of openFoam and liggghts. It includes also a simplified classifier. If you like, check it out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqS3g555aqp8hdk

I used my own DEM codes, so i am not sure how to patch particles in Fluent.

Sir, how did you calculate the superficial gas velocity?
@lazysunleo
@lazysunleo 7 жыл бұрын
hi, i set the gas mass flow rate as a constant value. And the superficial gas velocity is decided by the mass flow rate.

Hi! I´m trying to simulate de efficiency of a cyclone I design for college, and I just read you used ansys for this. Do you know where I can find how to configure properly the model to do that? I´m very begginer with Ansys and I´m having a lot of doubt about how to do it. I were looking for tutorials, books, and practicals examples with no luck. Thanks

Actually i want to understand what is meant by loading rate??
@lazysunleo
@lazysunleo 8 жыл бұрын
Loading rate is the ratio of mass flowrate of solids at the cyclone inlet to that of air.

Hi, but i donot think Fluent will recognize Fortran codes. Cheers, Kaiwei

Hi, basically you declare all of the subroutines in a header file (*.h), then you include the header file at the beginning of all of your source codes. Finally you load the source codes into fluent and compile them, which will generate a file of *.libudf. Cheers, Kaiwei

@d3rf0 Yes, you can run cfd and dem consequently by calling dem in the user defined functions of fluent. I do not use a batch command. I get the variables from cfd using udf and share them with dem by use of public variables. You can also put some of them into udm in fluent and then you can view their values in the postprocessing windows of fluent. cheers,

how did you couple your dem code with fluent? Is there any way to call consequently dem and fluent? Did you use a batch command? Have you some guide or how to? thanks...

Yes, it could be a DIY simplified circulating fluidized bed in computers. Some researchers also think it is virtual experimentation under idealized conditions. In essence, it is a mathematical description of the flow based on first principals.

Hi, 4agrees, it is a long-term plan to include heat exchanger and heat, mass transfer in the simulation. We have to try it first. I guess it should work by 50% chance at the moment.

Yes, it is true. Segregation is unavoidable in this CFB. By the way, higher fluid velocity will suppress segregation.

Very usuful simulation. I was thinking in the posibility of mixing and dry sand and cement by this way, but it seems that could be segregation... Thanks a lot.
