The pure frustration if being willing to do something just to be physically unable to. Not because you don't have the will or the grit, just because you can't.

There's something so tragic about how Ford looks either unimpressed or straight up annoyed throughout this while Stan is trying to communicate the pressure he's under. I love Ford, but he's a very self-centered character, so it makes perfect sense for him to not really be able to understand the strain Stan's been put through.

The scene where Dipper sees that Stan is not angry with him but with Ford is so important to me. Because Dipper is not an adult. Dipper is a twelve-year-old boy who is impulsive and does not have the experience that Ford does. Ford should be the one stopping Dipper from throwing himself into danger. Ford should know better. This fandom has a habit of throwing responsibility onto Dipper or Mabel's shoulders when they are just children. This is Stan showing that he recognizes that Ford, the adult, is the one who should take responsibility. Similarly, Ford tends to pass the blame onto Stan, when Ford has just as much if not more responsibility for Weirdmeggedan and especially Bill and the Portal.

I really like how when it shows Ford during "would they hate it too" he starts out looking shocked and upset and maybe even a little guilty when he realizes how genuinely hurt Stan is but then he very quickly covers it up with anger. People have a tendency to portray Ford pre-reconciliation as just angry and post-reconciliation as just upset and guilty, but I think it's important to acknowledge that the anger stems from the hurt and the guilt. Even as he's angry at Stan, he's still upset about how bad their relationship has gotten, which only feeds into his anger because he doesn't have the emotional tools to deal with those conflicting feelings. And I think what we see of Ford in this animatic shows that really well, that his anger is a secondary response to not knowing how to handle his emotions and not a primary response to what is actually happening. It's a really small moment but it captures a part of Ford's character that is often misunderstood really well, which is very impressive
