How about a4 size?

I would think it would work the same way. I don’t have access to A4 paper but I imagine the technique would translate.

I tried this with the cricut infusible ink pens on some sublimation paper, and with the infusible ink sheets. It worked so good!! I'm so excited!
@LabcraftStudio
@LabcraftStudio 11 сағат бұрын
Thats awesome! I don’t really play around with the infusible ink sheets since I have a printer and can print things, but that definitely opens up the possibility for hand drawing. Plus the materials are easy to obtain at most craft stores. 😊

I also had another question. I was wondering if you could do the same technique with a diode laser. I know you cant cut clear acrylic. But what if you place the coloured acrylic on top and the clear acrylic on the bottom.
@LabcraftStudio
@LabcraftStudio Күн бұрын
The laser wouldn’t cut through the bottom layer. Once the laser hits the clear it would essentially scatter and not cut. You could try with two diode compatible colors and set your settings to the thickness of the 2 materials combined (ie 6 mm for 2 pieces of 3 mm)

Funny you mentioned that… My husband actually suggested the same thing when I showed him that tiny square in the beginning. I’m guessing you would have to do a super deep engraving or potentially a set of layers with say 1.5 mm acrylic. My only concern would be the fluid trying to leak out.

@@LabcraftStudioI believe I saw that they were 3 layers of acrylic
@daniita4570
@daniita4570 Күн бұрын
Like @Serkunny said, maybe it could work with 3 layers of acrylic, the one un the middle will be an outline/silhouette wall, creating a hollow in the middle. Perhaps without liquids, but just glitter and tiny cute charms inside. It would be interesting to explore the possibilities with different thickness, the one in front could be thinner than the others, or whatever.

Yes, I feel like KZbin was telling me I need to do this in the near future because I just saw a short from Glowforge that did something very similar. I also have 1.5 mm acrylic coming tomorrow so… 🥽🔥

This is Soooo good. Thank you for sharing. I went through your other video first. It helped me a lot, because you carefully explained your jig method using a dummy sticker sheet. Great job. Then you come along with this easier method! Boom! So genius.

QUESTION - could you use vinyl for the jig? (I'm a cricut newb, and inherited a bunch of vinyl that I don't really plan to use.)
@LabcraftStudio
@LabcraftStudio 3 күн бұрын
You certainly could. I personally use the 11 x 17“ hack from my previous video and just periodically cut a new jig out of watercolor paper when my mat gets old or needs cleaned. But vinyl would probably work with this method as well. The only downside would be if you stick vinyl to the mat, you probably aren’t going to get it back up.

I tried this (based on another video) using sub ink/paper and printed with TPU (220F nozzle/80F bed) and while some of the the ink did transfer, it seemed like the ink vaporized "between" the print and the TPU and the final image looked VERY fuzzy and the edges that should have been crisp looked almost spray-painted (that's the best I can describe it). Any ideas why? What are your 3DP settings?
@LabcraftStudio
@LabcraftStudio 7 күн бұрын
I used PLA in this method with my standard 220C nozzle and 55C bed. I have not tried to sublimate TPU so I don’t know if that may play a role since it’s a different material.

What sticker and laser cutting equipment do you use? Cricut for stickers? I was hoping for mentions of what machines you use to cut the stickers and acrylic out. Could you list everything used please, I’m asking because I’m wanting to make nice keychains for friends and family that aren’t shrinkie dinks and I don’t want to send my designs to a offshore company.
@LabcraftStudio
@LabcraftStudio 10 күн бұрын
I used a Cricut to cut my stickers. I typically print them on printable vinyl paper and seal them with self adhesive laminate such as those by Avery. I have a Gwieke Cloud CO2 laser machine but there a several brands out there for cutting acrylic. To cut clear acrylic you'll need a CO2 laser not a diode laser. As for the clear acrylic and I used standard 3 mm clear cast acrylic and then UV resin for the top layer.

I saw a video where they taped the sublimation print to the 3d printer bed and the nozzle/filament supplied the necessary heat and pressure. Very slow 1st layer. The paper does stick but I imagine soaking it in water would help. Might be worth trying on a glass bed.

@@daliasprints9798 It really doesn't add much to the print time. With newer printers running 5-10x the speed of older ones, there is virtually no difference, and anyone with even a remotely good slicer can set it to actually build a model with the excess when changing colors, especially if you are making something where the color doesn't matter. I see it used often to make things like filament clips and the like, so there is little to no waste.
