This is awesome! Can you do a vid on a hip switch pass counter when you're in half butterfly? My counter to that pass from knee shield is pretty good but I don’t really have anything from half butterfly

Didn’t realize there was such a clean entry into backside 50/50 from butterfly guard very nice. What’s that position at 3:08 called where you turn 90 degrees and cross your legs under your partners leg like that? Almost looks like a waiter or X guard where the legs are crossed under partners legs.

It works great from Butterfly Guard. The position at 3:08 is Reverse X-Guard.

This whole guard seems like a hip battle, whoever's in control of who's hips is usually in a better control position overall. Great details
@ZeusEBoy
@ZeusEBoy Ай бұрын
kinda the opposite, he's using hips to counter the fact his opponent hypothetically has upper body/shoulder control and presenting a good solution on how to escape from it, which naturally involves the hips. though yes you're totally correct in a real session it would become a battle. Part of why I personally hate butterfly guard, but still useful for everyone to train in case you find yourself in it or your opponent takes top mount.

Dropping in this time to say super appreciate the last few videos all building on each other. It's been amazing timing, been trying better understand butterfly guard so I stop getting smashed in it. I found your channel about a year ago now because of your octopus guard, believe your name came up from Craig Jones talking about it, and since I've been trying to implement a lot of your techniques. Some of your previous videos I've really learned a lot from were on choi bar, body lock pass, K-guard and your shoulder crunch techniques all really elevated my game as well.

Love the detail about the chin gripping the shoulder to assist in controlling the position in case they try to retreat into the wrestler get up. That and pulling your knuckles up the back of the head to secure the sweep and set right up into mounted arm bars and what not. Great stuff as always. p.s. Appreciate the halftime ad audio being lowered :).

With your feet on his knees in long range, what do you do if OP gets grips on both your ankles/feet?
@KDGrappling
@KDGrappling 2 ай бұрын
Arm drags can be a great option when your opponent posts on both of your ankles.

Weird for the leglock entry ....doesn't make much sense to gonfor legs from there .Sweep on other side , head dive under to back take and armlock or dive under to inverted triangle with multiple other attacks (toe hold , kimura , sweep to arm or finishing inverted triangle ) much better options
@KDGrappling
@KDGrappling 2 ай бұрын
One of the reasons you would attack the legs from this position is when your opponent posts out on their hands to the defend the sweep. This means that most of the weight is on the hands and not the legs. This will make it easier to enter into the legs because your opponent legs will not be carrying the majority of the weight. Another reason why you would enter the legs from here is because your opponent is not on their knees anymore but up their feet, This creates more space between their hips & the floor making easier for leg entries. Hope this helps.
