The problem is that as students, we go to class without going through the material. If we go through the material before class and go through the class questions before class, we can formulate questions, and learning can take place and we have those aha moments and we can build the puzzle Remember, our brains can not learn if we dont have a question. Hence, going to class is useless for the majority of students Hopefully, one day, I'll get the invite to the podcast.

@@amahle23 Hi Amahle! Yes , I wrote the NBT . It is so difficult to say how much is required because it is the university that decides . I also think that passing the test gives you a greater chance

I was talking to my friend about about this "CA(SA)" syndrome students make it a part of them its like people draw confidence from saying I am studying charted accountancy , some of it also stems from a low self esteem lets face it ussually top performing students have alot self esteem problems from high school and when they get to uni they get to derive confidence from "i am a accounting student" "i am killing course" this is dangerous because they identify themselves with these things, what happens when it gets taken away they crush an hard. I will definitely be on your podcast soon...... 1st year CA(SA) student.

I think many of us in this field are used to being praised so when that is no longer happening after highschool , we will brag about what we study to get the same validation and praise we so urgently desire . Hi, when i apply for it at uct. Do i choose the option of "advanced diploma in accounting"?

Hi , It would depend on where you are in your university journey . If you have already done Bcom General Accounting , then you may apply for the advanced diploma . However , if you are coming from matric or you have taken a gap year , you must apply for Bcom Financial Accounting . I hope this helps

You can apply as soon aa you know that you will be coming to UCT or any surrounding varsity . That way you don’t have to pay until you know for sure that you have been accepted!

My only word of advice as someone who had been successful in applying for bursaries is that the best thing you could do is apply as much as you can. Don’t limit yourself to just one or two bursaries.

ouuuuuuu that's a tough one ! To be honest , there are more things I have learnt since starting university and most courses aren't really numbers related . There is a lot more theory I didn't anticipate . Now I am not a huge fan of theory . Accounting for me is a stepping stone to the other things I want in life so there's less pressure on me to follow the traditional path What I will say about medicine , it requires purpose . You need to have the desire for it . A lot of people I know who are in medicine can conquer it because they know what it is they want and why. So that is what I would advise you to do . write down reasons for each . Write how you want your life to pan out , for me accounting is flexible and that's what I love most about it.
