Looking at the Jekyll and Hyde photos it sort of looks like that film might be a little like infra red film. Rollei retro film has a larger spectrum of light it can photograph. It was used during WW II for reconnaissance. I'm basing my opinion on the leaves in your photos. Some look bright. Almost white in places. It looks like it exposes well.

Eterna is great! I found some on ebay a few years ago and shot a roll but since it was very expired I shot it at asa 100, I do think it's intentionally flat which I quite like. Sadly living in the UK so I won't be able to try the one you got :(
@Eclectachrome8 күн бұрын
aw bummer, but nice that you got to try it out from ebay! yeah the flatness is a nice factor if you either like that look or if you like to grade your own film further!
@erichstocker83589 күн бұрын
Yes this is movie film and it generally has a flatter look. Many labs would suggest shooting 250T as 125T and then, of course, one should put on a warming filter. However, a hybrid approach might make the latter immaterial although I would then shoot the film at 100T.
@Eclectachrome8 күн бұрын
Yep! I also think the lab scans were left on the flatter side for people to grade if they wanted as well. Definitely a warming filter would be nice, but Eterna seems warmer than vision 3 200T films which I do like :)
@AlexLuyckxPhoto9 күн бұрын
These are great; Fuji does some excellent motion picture films. I agree they need some post-processing work to get things 'right'. I've only had mead a couple of times. I'm a fan of bourbon. A distillery in Guelph (Spring Mills) makes whiskey that has similar bourbon notes and is excellent in an old-fashioned. But I'm still a straight Canadian whiskey or single-malt smokey scotch kind of drinker (or craft beer).
@Eclectachrome8 күн бұрын
ooooo yes that sounds so yummy - either straight for me (not on the rocks) or with a dry ginger-ale :) craft beer is fun too - I love the sours especially! which are hard to find. and oh yess, the film...haha

When you remove the "underexposed" look, what are you doing? I mostly edit on my phone with snapseed, and will just drag the bottom end of the tone curve for each color to better match the histogram. I think of it as calibrating the "black point" (if that's a real term) of each color.

Here's to a happy, healthy and analogue rich 2025. OUT for me: no occasional colour film anymore. I can handle B&W myself but as I like prints rather than scans, it is just too difficult and expensive to have colour printed. Also OUT: new (or new old) gear (aka keep my mitts off Ebay!!). IN for me: lots more printing... darkroom, VanDyke Brown, Salt Printing. Also IN: coating glass plates for my 1920's Zeiss 9 x12cm folding plate camera because shooting a 100-year old camera is super special.

The perfect SLR for me is the Nikon N90s. Runs on AA batteries, and knows everything about film I don't .. lol, haven't used it much, rescued it from a thrift for like 15 bucks, cleaned up fine and runs all the glass no problem. I was shocked to find out it sold for 1,000 dollars when new, no wonder it shoots so good. That might be another one worth looking into for shooting in difficult situations, it is pretty hard to make a mistake with it, just add the SB26 flash and rock and roll anywhere.
@Mr.Nobody_etc.22 күн бұрын
The only thing that I wonder about, is if so many different times and chemicals for different film, does the "One Size Fits All" introduce quality compromises under certain conditions? Perhaps they have found the middle ground where it just fits so to speak.
