Thanks for the updates! The Reflx digital distance finder should complement the new Pentax, yes? As for half frame, if only Instagram wouldn't crop vertical 3:2 aspect ratio images (or make me crop them).

Thanks for the shout out and for watching the videos. I do in store only for a couple of reasons, first I am the only one working at the store, so time is limited. Second, I sell so much film in store, that if I did mail out, there would be very little film for the local customers. And local customers are the reason for the build up of my film wall so they are my priority. P33 sold here for $11.99. Not much mark up on the rolls as you can imagine. Next, When Ferrania P-30 was first brought on the market, the US branch reached out to Don's to see if we were interested in carrying the film. Of course we were. Since film was limited, they wanted local brick and mortar stores that focus on analog, and that is what Don's about. So that is how I got my start with Film Ferrania. The US branch was since shut down, but we still have a good connection with Film Ferrania. FYI, Don's is........ The International, Intergalactic, World HQ for HolgaWeek competition. Dallas/Ft. Worth has also built up a strong analog community, so much goes on around and we don't get credit for this strong community. I just heard you are going to Polacon in the Bay area. Cool, most everyone there from the DFW area will know about Don's. So say hi to them for us. Sorry, I could go on and on, which is why a customer, Mr. Holga, said he would like to do videos just with us talking. And that is how that started. Take Care, Todd Puckett

On following the news from Pentax I had worked out there would be a half frame camera. With a good lens half frame works well. Today and yesterday I have been using a Yashica Samurai X3.0 and an Olympus Pen D. The film economy is useful with Half Frame which was a selling point in the 1960's too. I am eager to see this new camera and buy one.

Digital rangefinder!!!! Yeee-haaa!!! I have a bunch of vintage shoe-mount rangefinders, but most have become misaligned/inaccurate over the years -- so this sounds cool! Now how do I stack my shoe-mount light meter *AND* my shoe-mount rangefinder?????

A little disappointed the Pentax could be a half frame, I totally get why they would do it. I was hoping for a Range Finder style with L-mount. I'll still buy the half frame though just to show support.

Yeah if they get support for this then they can make more niche cameras in the future perhaps! But I get they are trying to target what might sell the best too that people will like and ‘young’ people since that’s what they keep saying they are targeting lol

My first roll of P33 is drying as I type this. If anyone wants to know I developed in Ilfosol 3 with the same developing time as Ilford FP4. I'll try and develop the second roll tomorrow which should give me a better understanding of how this roll handles certain situations. The first roll was, mainly, shot in heavy rain while the second was shot in sunlight.

Would very much appreciate your update using Ilfosol 3, same Dev time as FP4+. I spent lots of time emailing Ferrania about Dev procedures and only received rude replies and suggested developing with D76 stock for 10 minutes.... It produced transparent film.... So would appreciate how your film looks with Ilfosol 3? Thank you! Jim in Las Vegas, NV.

@@jimcook3882 results are pretty good. Grain wise, between fp4 and HP5. Results were decent using ilfosol 3. Maybe a touch under exposed, so probs my fault. It dries flat as well which is great for scanning.

@@jimcook3882 helpful hint. If you can't find the developer you need, try massive dev chart and looking up a film stock with the developer you already know about. For example, I looked up the dev time for fp4 in d76 at 1+1 dilution and found it was identical to P33.

@@Tinderchaff James thanks a ton for your update on using Ilfosol 3 1-9. As I told you the HELP folks at Ferrania were so upset with my requests for developing suggestions for their P33, they gave me a death procedure, and said I was being impatient and they felt I was reaching for PERFECTION, and maybe was NOT the type of person to use their P33 film.. Uughhh. So after scrapping 2 rolls of P33 using their development procedure and chemistry, it will be sometime before I buy any more P33. I LUV my ACROS II film with Ilfosol 3. Thanks again for your update!!!!! Much appreciated.

The new film camera from Pentax is beautiful. Its not built cheap it’s a quality half frame camera that will stun the world, that is the new film photographer. It looks as sexy as the fujifilm xt-5, reduced in size.

Half frame is a very good idea - in former days, we had a 18x24-Agfa in our family and later I enjoyed the Olympus Pen F 18x24mm SLR. As film isn't cheap today, the double image rate will help;-))

Just another option may be a square 24x24mm format. I like square because in standard handheld position I can choose HIGH or SQUARE, 'portrait/eiffel tower' or 'group/landscape'. The only misfit: it doesn't fit into slides, and therefore it couldn't win market cake. A 24x24 camera is the vintage ALTIX (made in GDR many decades ago). With my pen F I put two pics in one slide - no problem;-)) @@Eclectachrome

Shoot with a few Zeiss and Voigtlander vintage cameras so I welcome the news about a distance meter! I tried to adapt a laser meter from the hardware store for use and it was waay to big even for a small one.

I like the manual film wind lever and the focus distance indicator (in the viewfinder) features of the new Pentax half-frame camera. Something I noticed is that some Kpop stars carry film cameras with them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJnNimukpc-Hlc0si=m9y9zOPtxgeGT8Qg If Pentax gave some of them the new film camera and we see them being used in their KZbin videos, that could be a good marketing move and have a significant influence on sales.

Hopefully it will be possible to take selfies with the camera. Perhaps a clip-on mirror and/or an auxillary lens would be required to do that, but maybe Pentax will make them available accessories.

Dupli is/was just the distributor of Tetenal in the UK, they make nothing. They don't even list Tetenal chemicals on their website. That wouldn't make sense also, because it is gone. For good I guess. I went again bankrupt somewhere in the 2nd half of last 2023.

I loved and love analog photography, but as far as I can see, it's no longer available to the common man like it was in 2018 or 2019, isn't $13 a lot for a single black and white film? Or even for color film? I don't know, but not all people have that much money, or they do, but at most for 2 films a month! You KZbinrs are another story!I don't mean that in any offensive way.

Most people didn't do 2 films a month when analog was standard. This is only with digital photography than the common man started making more than 24 photos a month (in 35mm) without starting eating in their savings. 288 photos per year was far more than the common person shot, in no small part because of the price. Don't confuse the relative price of films in the 2000's to the relative price from before the digital. Film never has been as cheap as in the 2000's when the analog photography market collapsed.

No offense taken lol it depends on people’s budgets and how they shoot, whether they develop at home or lab, and what is the common persons budget changes. P33 is a special film, I wouldn’t say that’s day to day film for most folks, we do have Kentmere and Fomapan which are more budget options!

But also if everyone shot 2 films a month, that’s more profit for companies than a few people shooting say 8 films a month 😊
