I’ve been an MLT for 19 years. 14 of which were in a hospital lab. I love my job but could do without the disrespect of the MLT vs MT. I had plenty of time and opportunity to get my BSN but have no desire to work in management. I also don’t want loans to pay back so I am ok with being a MLT. But the disrespect that comes from my own lab leadership is awful.

Thanks this was helpful. What percentage of your time would you say is "screen work" e.g. report writing versus other tasks e.g lab work. THank you

Dereka, I enjoyed your explanation of your experience. But I do know for a fact that here in NYC, most managers of Laboratories in Hospitals are Doctors. And like you said, a lot of the time, it's a Pathologist, although I worked in a lab where it was a Biologist with a Doctorate. Actually, I have worked in Pathology in a hospital and also in an Outpatient lab.

Thankkkk you for taking thr time to make this video ! I definitely like the idea working behind the scene and i love that theee is no direct patient care 😅... coming from a nursing student . I realized nursing wasnt for me when i had to be with the patient 24/7 during clinical.

I am in nursing school first semester and I have anxiety every morning when I have to take my exams. I am just dreading nursing school and just not very into patient care and just the whole nursing duties I can't imagine myself doing. I Just don't know if I am making a mistake to push through it or should I just withdraw at this point. I love learning about the cells and just being able to have my own space when it comes to nursing its big on team collab. can someone please give an advice suggestion . I am not getting any younger an do not want to waste anymore time .

One of the best jobs for those who like to be left a lone to do their work in peace. You get used to stat orders that are annoying but they come to you in a pneumstic tubes and results nowadays are just uploaded to EPIC/LLEAP. Occasional phone calls or messages via pager (most preferred pager messaging, as did I) It's like microbio but you get paid well to do it, you need to have an organized mind or it'll feel like you're all over the place.

Girl I just found your channel like 2 days ago and it has given me so much hope and excitement about starting my classes and getting into this field to better my life and independence. I've really enjoyed watching, I hope that you are doing well in your MLT endeavors, and I really hope you consider making more videos/updating us on what's new! Thank you for sharing!!

Thanks so much for your informative videos! The Q & A one was extremely helpful too :) I'm just beginning my schooling for MLT and I really wish as an introvert I had known about this career sooner (like decades sooner). I'm curious how you got into traveling MLT?? Did you work/gain experience somewhere first before taking a position like that or was that your first job as an MLT? Thanks!

hello I'm MLT from Indonesia. Do other countries accept MLT from Indonesia? because I really want to work in a foreign lab and want to gain experience. I have worked as an MLT for 5 years. MLT is very fun, even though the salary in Indonesia is very small :(
