Very nice build. Looks great. Would you mind sharing where you get your laser board. Thanks.

All the talk of the hordes of tourists streaming into Thunder Mesa makes we want to visit. Where’s the Grand Lodge Experience gonna be located! Could see a Grand Canyon mission style structure, heavy timber Yosemite lodge, or at least some Yellowstone Old Faithful cottages. Plus a little depot of course. 😊

Awesome video! I look forward to your builds every week. Congratulations on the new locations. One question, the car looks a little tall compared to the locomotive, was that intended? or is that how 0n30 is represented. I have zero experience in 0n30. The only thing I know is what I have seen in your videos. Thanks

That's as intended. All passenger equipment is going to look tall next to one of those Porters. They are tiny!

Many, many years ago those cars came with 2 strips of green glazing for the clerestory window. I always enjoy seeing your projects come to life. Thanks.

Dear Dave, love the way you’ve used the 35 thou thick laser board. Great tweak to the Gruesome Gulch version of the excursion cars. Beautiful how the different laser cut layers stand out, even in the unpainted version. Beautiful how the letter boards give the car some extra dimension and charm. Very cool that this is just a printed paper technique. As always it’s awesome to see you put these car scratch builds, or kit bashes together. Cheerio

Hi Dave, I'm a big user of the Affinity range. You mentioned that you did your design in Affinity Photo. In my experience Affinity Designer is better suited for the kind of graphics you were producing. If you have access to it, I suggest you give it a try.

If I recall, those pins are to represent air brakes. Which given the era, wouldn't be accurate to build on your point. MU hoses only appeared after the diesel locomotive. Knuckles though would be common depending on the decade. IF I recall, they also appeared in the later half of the 1800's. Pardon my nerd out. I like my trains how I like my battleships, ww1 into ww2 era. Specifically the USRA equipment. Easy to find USRA equipment anywhere. However...anything with a Lima Locomotive Works builder's plate...oh boy...only 3 or 4 models of non-famous engines exist...I'm fairly close to Lima maybe 15 minutes south at 55mph, kinda picky in regards to that...easy to find Shay's, 2-8-4's, and 4-8-4's from Lima, but nothin' else. For railfans new to the topic: Lima (pronounced Lime-ah unlike there Spanish derived counter parts) built the famous NKP 765, C&O 2716, and SP 4449. The Shay is a given...and don't go to Lima expecting to see the old locomotive works...on google maps is a gravel lot with a big foundation, today the site is being redeveloped. Video's exist of the ol' locomotive works in it final days. I think 765 is in one of those...

I love that somebody else uses tacky glue as a final assembly glue. I primarily build model cars but tacky glue is how i hold the final model together, although I use liquid cement, epoxy and super glue for load-bearing assemblies.

It’s too bad that MDC Roundhouse kits are no longer available. Many of these kits found a home with me. They were inexpensive and readily lent themselves to kit bashing. The 30’ “old time” flat car became one of my favorite project cars. I needed some hi side gons so I started remaking the flat, worked great. Thanks for sharing this build with me.

Well, that’s an unfortunate location for an air conditioner… Congrats on the move and the 50 videos! Not a chance my layout could be moved intact. Only things I would be re-using are the buildings and rolling stock. Hopefully the trees… Possibly some of my track…

Loved it! That's the fun of this hobby for me: doing things differently-the artwork and imagination. Those who disparage freelance stuff and "funky railroading" should be slapped on the mouth with a full scale Shay Steam Engine.

Dave, LOVE your videos! You have been a real inspiration and help in the building of my own On30 model railroad based on the two foot gauge Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes RR in the state of Maine circa late 1800's/early 1900's.
