Fortunately changes were made in 2008 under Stephen Harper's Government. Now a Dangerous Offender designation process including a designation which is phase 1 and the sentence proceedings in phase 2 gives judges options for how to handle dangerous offenders. Nowadays not all Dangerous Offenders will receive the indefinite sentence. Most now received the designation but with a determinant sentence and up to 10 years of long term supervision consecutive but will remain a Dangerous Offender for Life on their Criminal Record.

I had this done against me in Saskatchewan back in 2000. Though I had a history of repeat Arson convictions throughout my record, I had never caused actual harm or never killed anyone. I am First Nations decent from Manitoba yet when I was arrested I suppose that the Government and the Courts wanted to make an example out me. I was later declared a long term offender and given a total term of 8 years and 10 months which included 6 years of supervision. A plea deal approved by the Attorney General of Saskatchewan. I never returned to that life afterwards. I quit drinking and setting fires. My Arson charges throughout dated as far back as 1992 to 2000 with 10 convictions. The R. vs Crosby case was used as a precedent on my case as this individual was convicted in Toronto, Ontario back in 1982 to 25 counts of Arson and declared a Dangerous Offender.

I'm a subscriber from outside North America, but I like hearing about law. When airbags were new to the US, they were required by law. The makers, who always oppose every safety standard, also opposed airbags, and didn't spend effort making them safe, just barely legal. So when the makers got sued for the unsafe airbags, the makers argued that "compliance with legal minimums is proof of non-negligence". That argument failed, and the lawsuits were allowed to proceed. The makers then spent effort getting the very unsafe 1st generation airbags replaced with safer airbags. I don't remember how high that lawsuit got, I followed it in real-time back in the 80s and 90s, so forgive my memory. But it was a win for consumers.

If an organization is mandated by government, and professionals are mandated to be a member of the organization in order to practice, the organization IS government.

Americans.. Do not do this as you will run a very high risk of being shot and you have now given the officer a reason to suspect you of any and every thing. This woman is in BC. It may be different there.

I think it has to do with fermentation fermented food is good for your body and your gut microbiome but alcohol is toxic and dangerous for your body. So I wonder if the same chemicals that for fermentation happening are the same ones that they look for when you drinking alcohol because of the yeast content I'm not 100% sure because some alcohol has yeast and some of it doesn't some of it has fruit sugar yeast some of it is like clear moonshine type of stuff. I don't remember all the cooking stuff of alcohol in the correct terminology but it has to do something with fermentation. They really need to fix breathalyzers for people to understand what alcohol is and what is not because I love fermented food.

Thank you for trying to help! Although this is not the best advice, especially in America. Your car will immediately be searched under suspicion of you hiding drugs or weapons and possibly told to get out of the car at gunpoint “for the officers safety”. One time I was reaching around my messy car to find my new insurance card because I couldn’t remember if I put it in my glove compartment or center console and hoping I didn’t leave it at home I was rummaging through everything quickly trying to don’t it and my car was searched because the officer thought I was trying to hide drugs and get them out of sight while he was walking up to my car. Do not ever make any crazy moves or do anything other than what the officer says because it can and will be used against you in court and you just may be giving them “reasonable suspicion” to take the stop to a much higher level than it would have been in the first place.
