Not watching a wheel video from a guy that thinks Aluminum spokes exist and has never build a wheel, do not recommend.

Hey man, 100% agreed. I moved to Calgary from Montreal in 2018 and the first thing I noticed is the difference in healthcare system, it’s so much better in Alberta. Also the Rockies are next door pretty much, which is great not only for gravel or mtb fellas but for roadies as well.

nice tips. the least fun part is usually going downhill with my rim brake road bike so predominantly because of that I will try half-everesting with my mtb with disc brakes.

I had a Deda carbon handlebar, a genuine one. Lasted two weeks, broke just under the right hand lever. I got a full refund, but no apology from either Deda or the supplier. Carbon is never as strong as alloy when applied to bars and the torque stresses.

cyclists are suckers for trends. the industry is not helping either with all the hype and shilling. short cranks are better if you have some issues with flexibility and range of motion. else a difference of 5mm in crank length will not matter much or even be very noticeable for a functionally able cyclist.

In a film, I have seen an Englishman use this kind of tool, and the handle broke on the first try (I also have one but I have never tried/had any need to use it at any time). Personally, I have also bought the revised and newest type of the British "Tyreglider" for my folding Bromptons small wheels, but luckily I haven't had any reason to use it till now. But it doesn't fill that much. Finn. Denmark

Thank you for making this video, it seems like sprinters can understand other types of cyclists, but they can’t wrap their head around us, ever 😆. I don’t have any significant complaints about my 165s but there is a difference no matter what anyone tries to argue. 1600w+ 5s here for reference.

So I don’t need a power meter and can still use rouvy etc?
@TruTrainerRollers15 күн бұрын
Our SmartLoad rollers calculate power using advanced algorithms, providing accurate data for apps like Rouvy. While it’s close, a dedicated power meter is more precise for high-level accuracy. Many riders find our rollers calculation's perfect for training.

Lets put everything in context. I live in Spain. First your rides are mostly on more flat terrain compared to Spain which are closer to 1% compared to yours at 0.2%. While you have done some big rides with hills, smaller cranks would have been usefull. Second. True that flat rides would be better with longer cranks, maybe that is whyt you like. Third, i do mostly solo rides which are longer and hillier, short cranks generate the most difference in those rides, i dont have to go to 45km on the flat. My goal is to maintain or always surpass my base goal of maintaining 30km average on a 100km ride solo + 1000 meters climbing. Doing a ride in a group is much easier. If i spend lots of time on hills, shorter cranks are the best by at least 10% more watts. Remember gained its win in the hills but not on the flat. If you are solo and lots of climbs, the science and my reality support shorter cranks. Thanks

I feel like only I would only consider this if the OEM cage on my Red AXS derailleur snapped off or broke. I wouldn't purchase this seeking a performance upgrade.

Aero is what the drops are for? Pretty soon their brake more better crowds going to make their brake levers horizontal.. I don’t but this natural position of your hands. Just a bunch of useless analysis for really nothing. I read the reason for the pros doing this initially was to get past regulations of width.

I'm 6'1" and have always run 175mm cranks on my mtbs. With all the hype around short cranks, I finally tried shorter ones (165mm) and rode them for about 6 months. I saw advantages on flat riding, but the majority of my trails are big climbs with big descents. On the really steep climbs, I could never seem to keep my cadence fast enough to muscle my way up. After watching this video, I decided to put my 175s back on and compare once again. What a difference. So much easier to just power up the climbs. I probably went too extreme with 165s, but for me, I think 170s would be too short as well. Lesson learned: go with your gut and not with what is trending at the time.

I have to say, riding in Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, and through the Santa Monica mountains here in California, is probably the safest cycling you will ever see. That said, Love the video and great job boys!

If you are using a derailer hanger extender, the same gap can happen. Adjusting the b tension screw, and sometimes rotating the extender forward a few degrees, can get that gap narrowed again, and speed up 11tooth to 19 shifts.

Shooting towards the use of rollers on my inside rides. I use the E-Flex today which provides a lot of movement side to side and fore and aft but I'd really like the necessity of needing to be more engaged with balance. Inside Ride makes great rollers.

It's useless. I had one of these and the camera broke just below the mount hole. The camera body is just not strong enough to handle the forces exerted by this mounting position. I've returned my camera to Insta for repair.

Could have been a lot worse! Glad you've made a pretty speedy recovery! I had a road crash at 50kph at the start of a sprint, where a rider touched wheels in front of me and about 7riders went down. I tried to avoid it but one bike slid into my path. As I rode over it my back wheel snapped his chainstay which like a spring bounced back and forced my back wheel up, so I was riding on my front wheel at 50kph in slow motion unable to pull the brake. Momentum was too much for my bodyweight to overcome, so I slowly went vertical and it was either land on my head and snap my neck or land on the shoulder. Picked the shoulder and clavicle snapped in 3places, broke 5 ribs and punctured a lung. 5months off the bike, 6months of work(physical job) and 18months to be able to hit 300w's again for 20mins which used to be relatively easy before. I had to have surgery a few months later when everything had healed, as I was quite deformed on that side though.

I’ve got the same bump on my left shoulder. Took a downhill curve leaned way over. Front wheel hit a patch where pavement had peeled off the road, so for a split-second the front tire had no contact with the road surface and I went down. I had no idea it’s a classic cyclist injury.😊

Your saddle is too high, causing you to reach at the ankles and still have hips that rock to help reach, every pedal stroke. This will compromise saddle comfort and generate a twist up your spine that twists your shoulders and neck. Try 15mm lower. Not kidding.

I was supposed to be at Gravel Royale alongside you, but the weekend before crashed in a local gravel race and got a similar AC joint separation. Missed that event but was back on the bike after about 10 days and back racing a couple of weeks later. Planning on making it to Gravel Royale in 2025, hopefully nothing gets in the way this time. It wasn’t the glasses fault in my case though 😏.
