I see all these AI voices on videos now - can't xplane use the same tech. These voices are from like 10-20 years ago - no improvement. Aviation vocabulary is very limited - speech recognition shouldn't be too difficult. ATC interaction should be natural - speak and hear.
@ColinParker19674 күн бұрын
I agree and some of the pronunciation of place names particularly in the UK leaves a lot to be desired. A way to go I reckon.
@Bren394 күн бұрын
@@ColinParker1967 My point is the tech is here. Google voice recognition is great - use that tech and translate to text and then parse it to figure out what the user is saying. In the reverse, use the tools that these youtube videos use to generate auto videos - the voices are much better than these robotic ones. In 2025 - we should not be interacting with ATC by reading a text and then responding by selecting from a list of options.

Thanks very much for the review sir, which I've only just found whilst joining CIX VFR Club. I will have a look at the Aeroprakt issue and see if there is anything I can do. My theory with the Aeroprakt is that the tent is being blocked by the emergency parachute which is presumably also modelled as a weapon.

Enjoyable thanks! Do the clam shell thrust reverses work? Wondering if this was an option to slow down etc or just on landing. Laurie NZ 😊
@ColinParker196713 күн бұрын
Hi Laurie, I have asked the plane’s maker.
@quantumac13 күн бұрын
They work but they aren't actually thrust reversers. They are thrust attenuators. They divert the thrust to either side of the aircraft but not forward. They are sometimes necessary to slow down the aircraft because the Microturbo TRS 18-1 engine has a high idle. It's all documented in the manual I wrote, which is in the documentation download.
@quantumac14 күн бұрын
Greetings! I'm glad you enjoyed flying my little open-source jet! Note when you said the fuel was almost halfway to three quarters, that was only in the wing tanks. There are two wing tanks which hold up to 17.5 gallons of fuel each, and one center tank behind the pilot which holds up to 15 gallons, for a total of 50 gallons of fuel. The wing tanks feed into the center tank, and the center tank into the engine. So the wing tanks will empty out before the center tank does. The left gauge shows the total fuel in the wing tanks and the right gauge shows the fuel in the center tank. Try the EFIS version of the aircraft if you haven't already. It's a separate download. The EFIS version can be programmed with a flight plan which the autopilot will follow. Enjoy!
@ColinParker196713 күн бұрын
Thanks, that explains why I couldn’t find the fuel tank controls! I will give the EFIS version a go, give me an excuse to finally get my head around the autopilot.

Helpful, thanks. I've been flying v12.1.3 for about 3 weeks and it appears improved, but still with odd features. IFR flights with the Zibo B737 have encountered some vectors to final that have seemed out of the way, and not consistent with what I know gets assigned (around KPHL for example). Flying the CARTR5 STAR to the ILS 24R at CYUL, ATC actually instructed a "descend and maintain 0 before reaching the IAF. Definitely still work in progress. (BTW, in the US, ATIS stands for Automatic Terminal Information Service. )

I fly mostly IFR flight plans in X-Plane 12. The ATC is dismal, in my opinion, for filing IFR flight plans, and the flight following feature has me changing squawk codes more often than is necessary. ATC during IFR operations unfailingly gives me vectors that stray from my filed flight plan, and the majority of IFR flights are not logged as such in the X-Plane 12 logbook. Great video, mate! 😊

I am really disappointed with the jagged coastlines and the occasional spike on an island shore. I figure some of it is the batch processing isnt quite as advanced as MSFS's AI processing.
