Just found this delightful performance. Is the sheet music available for purchase?

To big-c-note: Historically, the 5/7 chromatic cross strung concept originated in Spain during the 1400-1500's. The '5/7' orchestral version of which Pleyel's chromatic harp is the example was built in the late 1900's in France and taught throughout Europe until WWII destroyed the sole factory building it. *Advanced performance degree classes for the orchestral chromatic harp ceased at the beginning of the 21 century. The 6/6 whole tone cross strung concept was discussed in France by Henri Pape during the mid to latter half of the 19th century It may have been built earlier, but the earliest mention I know of a 6/6 being built was in Germany in the late 20th early 21st century. *Francette Bartholomee is the last graduate of the performance degree program.

I love the key change at 1:54 let alone the changes for accidentals during the preceding part whilst still playing. All done very smoothly.

I could not say enough good about this piece. You make it sound like Piazzolla wrote it for this harp. Your performance is stunning and entrancing.

I just don't understand why harps don't have a damper pedal, especially chromatic harps, it's a mechanically simple addition and would put their capabilities on par with a piano.
It is the morning here right now. What a pleasure to wake up and listen to this! Thanks!

Your facility on the 6/6 harp is amazing! You make Brazilian music on the chromatic a joy to hear.

What an absolutely magical moment of music.

By chromatic, I'm wondering if that means the strings on one side are tuned to accidentals. That way you can play without hitting any levers to get the sharps and flats. (That would be my thought anyway!)

It's a 6-6 harp so not quite. A 5-7 harp would indeed be tuned like the black and white keys on a piano

Your 6/6 is the harp of my dreams. I've just ordered a 6/6 that goes down to a cello C, and I would adore one with the range of yours!

I'm currently learning this on a pedal harp, and swearing at the changes. I've got a 6/6 chromatic coming in a few months and am looking forward to seeing what it's like on that. Your video is very inspiring. 🙂

The cross string has the edgy ethereal quality that that the concert harp loses in its refinement. Always love Mirjam's playing of anything from Jazz standards to classical.

This is gorgeous -- I just got a 4+ octave 6/6 cross from Blevins and am eager to receive it. Videos like yours make me even more eager!

This is transportingly beautiful. I've just purchased a Blevins 6/6 harp that is still being built, but I admit that the range of the Zangerle is amazing. Do you know if he still makes harps?

Nice one. From what country does 6/6 come from historically?

your question doesn't make any sense

Love this. Is it improvised or an arrangement? just curious

Ah! I have a 5/7. I love the idea of having a 6/6 though for ease of transposition. Though, something about feeling the relationships between keys in a tactile way is powerful with the 5/7. And, it’s probably an easier instrument for most folks to get started with (coming from piano). Your playing is beautiful.

Does it take more practice on a Chromatic harp.... it seems like there are more hand positions..... you perform this piece AMAZINGLY! I love your beautiful harp! It is amazing!

Is that a Spanish cross-strung at the right?
@myrthehahlen46379 ай бұрын
yes, it is! It's my mother (the woman at the right) in the video, she had it customly made if i remember correctly. :)

Mirjam, who built the harp you playing in this video?

Thank you for posting! My teacher was just telling me about the history of chromatic harps and about standing harps. I never thought I'd actually find a video of someone playing one!

Beautiful! Who made your harp?? I have a 4 1/2 octave. It's hard to tell at this angle but yours seems to have quite a range.

It's five years since my previous comment. I keep coming back to this video, a real gem. It's beautiful how your hands dance their own milonga on the strings, very suitable to this melancholic piece, a milonga of a real angel. Thank you!
