I wonder how thick the Al foil must be. It would be even less expensive o use common Al foil from my kitchen. Might have to double or triple layer it, though.

I don't have aluminum tape but I do have aluminum foil. It should work the same. Just glue it to the paper then use the clear tape on top.
@MakeItorBreakItNowКүн бұрын
The foil will work just not as long as the Aluminum HVAC tape. The tape has many uses beyond shielding, so it's worth it to have some on hand.

Thanks for that. I fixed two cases. I could not find wheels so I bought a set of 4 at a skateboard shop. The bearing fell apart on one of my cases and the ball-bearings went everywhere. So I went back to the skateboard shop and they put new bearings in the wheels. It all worked and good as new if not better.

Glad to see that your video has generated some momentum on this topic, which for some reason hasn't become widespread. The idea that's been going around in my head is that there’s an interesting range between buying one factory-made or DIY it as cheaply as possible, where a bit more spending could be justified. I think about the countries where this product doesn’t reach. It occurred to me to use fishing rod parts for the stick. Just an idea.

I wish you showed that it works. But why not put HVAC aluminum tape on both sides rather than just one for the size?
@MakeItorBreakItNowКүн бұрын
You could double side it, sure, although its a bit of an overkill. The problem with showing that it works is usually where the sensors that you're defeating are located also have cameras and folks quickly get upset when you video their devices. I'm thinking about it though, stay tuned.

What really ticks me off is this baloney of "nominal" vs "actual". Furnace filters "come" in nice inch increments. Lets' take a 24"x15"x4" for instance. When you go to purchase one, there are all kinds of shortened versions. It's worse than lumber. Not only are they smaller, but how much smaller is all over the place. This is crazy. The filters should be manufactured to be as close to the "nominal" as possible. Obviously there is going to be a little slop. The actual opening should be a bit oversize, perhaps 1/8". This would take care of 99% of fitment issues. For my last filter I had to shim it with wood. My new one is a little bigger, so no shim required. This is nuts.
@MakeItorBreakItNow6 күн бұрын
It is nuts, you'd think the HVAC makers and installers would just go with the most common sizes or make a slot with a better design, it's not rocket science...
@HoboGardenerBen10 күн бұрын
Sorry, not a good test. Go to a hilly area when it's icy and walk around for a while on as many surface types and angles as you can. Nothing else can tell you whether the product will handle it. A flat sheet is only one of many potential shapes of ice found outside and one of the easier to design for.

This pack should mod GREAT! I loved working on my Spirit pack a few years ago, but I always wished it was full scale. Still, it ended up looking really good, scale notwithstanding, so this should be a snap to mod into something really cool! I have a HasLab pack now that I've modded into an 84 pack, but otherwise, I'd definitely be picking up one of these and hitting up Etsy for soooo many mods. 😆 Modding and weathering Ghostbusters gear is something I find really relaxing, so I like to put in a lot of time on each prop, and everything is always a work in progress.

I have the HasLab pack now, but man, I wish Spirit had a full size pack when I was doing my Spirit pack mods! The wand scale especially makes a huge difference. The OG Spirit packs weren't scaled too badly, but the wands were ridiculously undersized. 😆
