Hi there, this was super informative. I do have a problem though. I own a remarkable L.Lott wooden piccolo. I was thrilled to purchase this beautiful instrument. It is absolutely beautiful but I can not play this little one in tune. I have tried rolling in out, head joint in out and I just can not get it to match any other instruments. I was wondering, with the age of it - I figured with the research I have done, and since there is no serial number on it, it must be 1918-1940. Could it be the cork placement that causes this. There is good suction but it did not come with the tuning rod. I want to take it in to get serviced but was just curious. It has been a struggle to play with our celtic band with this little one. It is truly a remarkable sounding pic and it would be amazing to get it in tune. It may also be me as I have never played a wooden pic before and the embouchure you need is much different. Is there any sincere reason why modern flutes made today don't have 100% anti-condensation moisture-proof keypads? After playing for just under 40-minuets my factory installed keypads get so waterlogged (soaked) the instrument becomes unplayable. ps, In case somebody might suggest - I'm *not interested* in purchasing a plastic flute.
