I’m a tech and I see our road guy go do pms on trucks on the customer lot and never find anything wrong with them. Also have shop guys that do the same, ever jack a front end up to check them and grease them correctly. Poor quality of work drives me nuts

Fun Fact: Noregon (Makers of J-Pro) Created the J-1939 and J-1708 protocols which is why their diagnostic laptop is called J-Pro, standing for J-Protocol.

No auto classes in high school but I was already a gear head with a 66 mustang. Went to uti in 92 and worked a couple small shops and a dealership until I scored a city fleet tech job. Worked 4/10’s, every weekend was a 3 day weekend and they provided all necessary tools. Snap on too. Spent almost 20 years there. Worked on everything from cng busses, vans and sweepers, backhoes, tractors and riding mowers to small engines with weed whips and chainsaws. Even painted a couple vehicles. Raised my 4 kids, braces, sports and injuries and sent them off to college. Trade school was absolutely worth i!

I've been using Diesel laptops now for about 4 years. Their support team is nothing but the best. Would not recommend anything else for diagnostics.

Learn E commerce stay away from any mechanics job, you can make millions, you won't as a diesel mechanics, if your dumb as me work hard,show up and keep a lot of bandages around.

My piece of advice would be don’t do it… it’s a waste of time and money and you will destroy your body. All my friends make double what I make and they have nice clean easier jobs..

I had 3 years of automotive in high school, it was a waste for someone wanting to get in the industry. I then had a year and a half trade school. That's where the good stuff is!! You can learn the basics, learn how the business works and, more importantly, you can learn what questions you need to ask and how to find the answers. You don't come out knowing everything. You come out prepared to learn more

This is true, other techs don't typically care if you're male or female. They only care if you're able to do the job on your own.
@robj7532Ай бұрын
This is true of all trade jobs. But those first 2 years are the time to learn and always do your best. That's a good time to start building your reputation. Do you want to be called half ass or do you want to be called reliable?

1 more comment: I gotta tell you guys how FkN cool you are, both of you ladies are supahelladope! Thank you for sharing your experiences as young (& obviously gorgeous) women who've worked as legitimate diesel techs in shop environments, your authenticity is refreshing. Please try not to allow the trolls & creeps (male or female) to get to you too much. As a man, I can only imagine the ridiculousness you ladies have to deal with in your DM's and comments but the courage & toughness you both share is hella inspiring for anyone who follows your content but especially for the next generation of girls you're helping to develop by being the bad ass chicks that you are. Thank you for representing yourselves as you do, it gives me & I'm sure so many others hope for the daughters growing up today. I realize I'm rambling on, I just can't say enough positive things about you gals. PS: you ladies should have tens of millions of followers rather than Cardi B, Taylor Swift, the Kardashians, & Megan the Stallion. I'm not even trying to hate on them, I'm just saying the world would be a lot better place in the future if we all held you two & women like you up on a pedestal instead of the toxic types that seemed to be worshipped in our society today. Sorry if this comes across as an unhinged rant, it's to long for me to proof read before I post because I gotta go wrench on my projects before you ladies lap me 😊 Peace, Love, & Light! ☮️✌️☯️💓🫶💗💡🙌🔦

FYI: most high schools, at least in CA & WA dont even offer autoshop, woodshop, or welding. They replaced those classes with ceramics, photography, & social media influencer classes. The last one i made up but I wouldn't wouldn't be at all surprised if it is an actual class in one of these super liberal states.

Finishing a build in two weeks is out of this world impressive. You're making me feel a little insecure for being such a procrastinator on my personal projects & I've been a heavy diesel & auto mechanic for 20 years (off & on) 🤷♂️ J/K kind of 😉 & restoring a rig that's been canabalized for years after it was ultimately totaled from fire damage is also hella impressive for anyone to complete on their own. You should be super proud of that & it sounds like you are. 👌

Shops that won’t spend money on specialty tools annoy me. Some Specialty tools make you money. Some can be made. Some need to be oem. But if that tool saves time it’s worth it.
