Very good, but pretty obvious if you know to look for the double lifts and the sneaky paperclip switch.

Classic! Remember to build trust and rapport first, and use tact when asking a participant to hand over **any** jewelry, folks. Not only might rings and other items be expensive, they may have deep sentimental value as well. I've seen an inexperienced KZbinr doing "street magic" make a ring effect his opener, and the discomfort on the participant's face was obvious. Personally, I hand over my own sterling silver ring to them for safekeeping, but everyone has their own performance style.

Imagine this ; you have a battery charging a phone. You cut the wire and the phone stops charging, you restore it and you hear : ding! (Phone charging) imagining something like EarPods that sankey did but we need something else on to turn on or off the power delivery, either with a special chip in the battery or some form of squeeze action on the wire that stops charging or a chip on the usb A side that can be remotely controlled

Although I really love what has been said about a deck becoming a ham sandwich. I’ll have to go with turning to sand and dust.

We have a wonderful 4 card version of this in Spain, but it requires more skill, it’s much longer, and you can never lose track of the queens.

I emailed Jay Sankey like 25 years ago with some questions I had after ordering 3 of his DVDs at once... He emailed me back answering my questions and even said, "any time" and even called me, "bud". The email felt personal and made me smile.

Funny, I went to a Harry Potter themed cafe while on vacation in Poland last month. I told the cashier that I practice close up magic and asked if I could show her some magic. She looked at me like, “I guess weirdo.” Then I did a handwashing and coin production as tip (the coin was worth about $1.25 US). Suddenly, she was totally into it. Then I asked if I could show more and did a linking rubber band routine. She told me after that it was the best part of her day. Magic is definitely special and a great excuse to interact with people. Cool video topic.

Magic is uniquely selfless and honest in that way. If a performer comes up and offers to sing for you or paint your picture, you are kind of obligated to give them attention and praise. Awkward. With magic, the audience is allowed (even expected) to be skeptical and the performer is inherently obligated to overcome that. If they perform well and deliver a magical experience, you'll know it and they'll know it. No faking polite praise is required.

Funny you say this Jay. This morning I went to a cafe to practice and some women asked me about the cards and ended up doing magic including sponge balls and exactly as you say I’m putting things in strangers hands and neither of us are thinking anything strange of it. It’s just magic flowing through us all. A fun innocence to it.

Bruh.... I've been doing magic since I was 8. The squeeze at around 7:12, great. You do a flip on top, but you don't even do another second deal to your mouth. How are you getting it back to center? You can uh, like find out who I am, or maybe just reply here. Great presentation, awesome with the clip switch (very original), but you are going so fast, even downloading the vid, I cannot see how you are not putting a joker in your mouth. Please advise, and thanks. Would love to do this, since well I was 7 when I watched Joe Monti do his giant card trick right in front of me with book sized cards and have never forgotten it, nor will ever cease to want to know how he's doing it.... that aside... hope you reply...

Ok, well books and years aside.... I'd say the only way I could pull it off is a double pull and flip (which you aren't explaining)... thus... your explanation as great as it is, is still an amazing bit of work since even a magician (me) cannot see it in a frame by frame examination. Well done!!! It's gotta be a double and a flop flip to get her back in the middle.

I this one. Its far easier if ask for typical animal you'd see at a zoo. Then you spot ..AKE or ... EPHA .. just by glancing and the possibilities are narrowed down but its still baffling.

Just thinking: if you want a really really clean throw using for instance only thumb and index finger, you could rough the bill up a bit so that it will automaticall retain the two cards!

I agree with the good things others have said in these comments and with the excellent advice you give in the video, for which I thank you. Also: Although this video was posted ca. 15 hours ago as I type this comment, I'm guessing you didn't just record it today. 🙂I mean where "on the road" could you possibly where it's that cold in JUNE? ANTARCTICA? 🙂

What's better than a magician who stuns us with his effects? A magician who shares the most deepest insight and knowledge about the art to help others along the way. This is why Jay has to be one of my favorite magicians in my lifetime. We love you, Jay!!

My brother took a book out from the library and then showed how a string magically passed thru his thumb. I just had to find out how he did it it so when he returned the book to the library I took it out and studied it.

I have three early magic experiences but I can't remember what order. I had an uncle who was a magician that left a very early impression on me. I remember being really into those Worlds Greatest Magic specials with Alan Thicke so either Mac or my uncle taught me my first trick. And the first VHS tapes/magic kit I got was one of the Mark Wilson courses from an infomercial.
