I make about 50lbs of Zveroboys most weeks. They are my favorite slug. I stay away from the Foster and Drive Key now, but I do still shoot the Lyman Diabolo in a Rem STS hull with a DR Blue wad. I only get about a 2-3" larger group at 50yds than with the Svarogs. They have no screws to fiddle with and the bore stays a lot cleaner.

Much better method than using those tedious clips that Fortune Cookie was using on his video. I opt for the Zveroboy slugs, which just use a basic brush wad and a screw. The cost on the wads for these is obscene, and they're only slightly more accurate than Zveroboys.

Wow! I thought I was cramped in my 12’x 8’ load room. I load for 300wm and 338wm and I’ve never had problems with a case not chambering because of swelling in front of the belt. Primer pockets normally go first. I’ve never used a belted magnum beyond 5 shots and that’s with 0.002” shoulder bump. I normally have to trim 0.005-0.009” after every FL sizing so that’s a lot of brass being removed from the body. I’d almost bet brass on a belted magnum is too thin to use before you actually have a round that won’t chamber do to that bulge in front of the belt.
@mikebagnallshooting9818 Жыл бұрын
I full size mine every time and the bulge is where the die can't pass the belt. So that really useful tool evens everything out its a great bit of kit. My cases last over 10 reloads easy after that tool. I am pushing 212 eldxs out of them too so heavy loads but every part of the case is inspected before the first stage seating the primer. If you look on other videos I do there is definitely a bulge above the belt and all perfect when they go through the Larry willis die 👌
@chadyoak1633 Жыл бұрын
@@mikebagnallshooting9818 oh I agree there’s a bulge. I just don’t know that it’s necessary to get rid of the bulge for it to chamber properly. Maybe in a custom built rifle like yours it is. I’m sure yours has a tighter corner then my factory built rifle. Are you able to get 10 shots without annealing? The current brass I’m working with now is on the 5th shot and I’m considering how long they’ll last.

@@mikebagnallshooting9818 are you still having trouble getting 212 grain ELD-X’s?
@mikebagnallshooting9818 Жыл бұрын
I got boxs of them as I bought them a few years ago as a batch. You don't need to go through all the efforts I do but but I like uniform and by squishing in the bulge it gives me confidence that my rounds are the same. It took me 8 months of building my 300 win mag of nights after work and when finally finished I developed a load that works for me out to 2000 yards so I go with what I got. I have never tried another size bullet in this rifle because the 212 eldx for me don't miss. And the size and length of my barrel make it nearly recoiless. Bare in mind this is just my way of many variations. It's what works for you. I absolutely love the 300 win mag

Hi buddy Sorry it has taken this long to get back to you. At the min I'm so busy with work its unreal. I'm selling up most of my guns now as they aren't getting the use. I want to keep the win mag and 223 and a shotgun and probably my 22. It's getting harder to shoot in the UK now. And before long above 30 cal will be no band. I never used to read many books. Its all been through trial and error and lots of testing. I have many reloading books but use them only for a min max powder charge which I enevitabl change to suit my gun. Out of all my guns the win mag is my favourite by far. It out shoots and out performs anything I have in my armory.

@nickcoleman4 жыл бұрын
Can you suggest how you determined the seating of the bullet. I have a tikka t3x 300 win mag which has a fairly long throat. Folks have suggested cutting a case, lightly seating the bullet, cycling it through the rifle so you can visually see the bullet contact within the case, then adjusting seating depth from there.
@mikebagnallshooting98184 жыл бұрын
With a long throat. If you compare the seating depth to the width of the bullet they say thats enough. So if your bullet won't touch the lands before dropping out of the case mouth. Seat them all the caliber width or shorter. You will find that rifles with long throats usually don't get much more accuracy by the seating depths. Play about yourself and see how yours behaves. And as long as the bullet is seated .300 of an inch you will be fine. Don't crimp them tho I have never needed to crimp 300 wm. Hope this helps a little - mike

What total length do you typically trim your 300 win mag brass to?
@RetrieverTrainingAlone4 жыл бұрын
Excellent! I hand load 300 magnums up here in Alaska, typically use 4831 powder and 180-200 gr bullets. I found improved concentricity of the necks when I removed the expander ball/decapper pin from my sizing die and use an expander mandrel instead. I deprime first using the Lee Universal Decapping die. Since the 1990s, I have not had problems with case bulge, so do not use the Larry Willis die.
