Boats are fun, until you're in the water. All (kids too) should not only be able to swim, but swim like an otter. Once you lose a child, you'll regret it for Life . . . ☆

I like that you used to climb trees!!! My buddies and I had a game as teens, We'd find a talltree, climb to the top and look for the next tall tree to climb! Lots of fun until I fell from the top of an oak tree one outing! Luckily a good sized branch broke my fall 8ft from the ground (it broke and I lasnded flat! Very lucky to only be badly brused and cut up but otherwise fine)! Great boat, I'm a Bolger fan, it perfectly works for your family! AllthebestRoy

Beautiful trip and very well presented. Your videos are excellent. Are you using multiple drones to film the same shots from different angles? If you're not, you are pulling off some interesting film editing magic.

Hey Dad, Ry got me a 360 cam for my birthday with a 12 foot selfie stick! It is a really interesting camera, I opened it on this trip so this was our first time using it. If its extended our of the boat it almost looks like a drone chasing us. It's super cool Thanks for the comment!

Chelanigans comments are turned off, couldn't respond there. Chelan water is low and cold in June, but the air is nice. Chelan is a dock lake, not many places to beach and camp. We stopped going to Chelan and moved our summer vacation boating to Lake Roosevelt. Getting in the water too soon (seasonally and mileage wise) will put you in cold and desolate waters. Lincoln, WA is our launch point AFTER the 4th of July. Haystack Rock and Hawke Creek are frequently missed by newcomers, which is a shame. The warmer water is up the Spokane arm if you travel any distance. All points north of the confluence have colder water, but plenty to see from the boat. It gets hot in the day, though - we have to swim a lot to keep cool (anchor nose facing south, stern tied to beach when possible). That's why we avoid the cold water.

Thanks for the message, and for telling us the comments where off! They appear to be fixed now. We absolutely plan on checking out lake Roosevelt next year. Thanks for the useful information!

Thanks Jeff! haha yeah, We are still trying to figure out our boat lettering. that was actually a sticker that was supposed to go somewhere else, but it got messed up so Ryan just stuck it on the window. I think we like it though! Yes, this boat makes many people curious. Glad you enjoyed this.

Beautiful Video! I can't believe the fires were so close! May I ask what motor size and speed? Looked like she really moves! I know Bolger designed her long and narrow to enhance efficiany! ROY! We just watched your mini camper video. So awesome. That is a 25hp 4 stroke Mercury. We can do 15kts at full throttle and get a little better than 10mph. It's wicked efficient and makes long trips really affordable!
@roydesignedthat29 күн бұрын
@babybluesbyphilbolger I'm upping MiniD to an older 9.9hp 4 stroke that I have! The 4hp was fine for power but loud! A 2 cylinder will smooth out the vibration! MiniD is new to us, so it takes a bit to track down the annoying rattles! I so enjoyed your video! I'm hoping Di will travel farther a field with MiniD in tow! AllthebestRoy

Awesome boat! It reminds me of the big flat-bottomed plywood motorboat my father owned when I was little. He'd pile all the kids in, and we'd cruise great South Bay off Long Island, N.Y., The cabin of that old boat was mostly occupied by a converted automobile engine though! Being able to cruise the shallowest of waters and beach the boat at will really opens up allot of interesting areas, and the long, narrow powerboat is very efficent!

Hi, I love the adventures that you do with your family. Our kids grew up boat camping on the Columbia River. Two of them are currently in the west Indian Ocean, circumnavigating the globe. One comment, where are your kids PFDs?
@babybluesbyphilbolgerАй бұрын
Thanks for the comment! We intend to do the Columbia soon. Good on your kids for keeping in the scene. Our vests are under the helm. I should add that the great part about this boat is we are all sort of confined in the main cabin, the kids are unable to open the back door and we have rules about where the kids can be when we are out.

Bolgers designs are not my cup of tea......but your boat is definitely growing on me. All season capable, economical propulsion. Scary flat bottom design in "open" seas though......any ballast? Motor HP? Well done videos!
@babybluesbyphilbolger2 ай бұрын
Phil's design's are definitely open-minded and unapologetic! We have a 25hp Mercury motor. No ballast, just two shallow chines along the bottom. The design might seem unstable, but flat-bottom boats are actually very sea worthy. We've been all over the Puget Sound and explored inland as far as Lake Chelan and can attest to this stability firsthand. This video goes into more detail: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJuQoYKkr86Dpsk

NO ONE out here calls it “the” hood canal. It’s just Hood Canal. Puget Sound is either called just that, formally, or simply, the sound. Never “the puget sound”. Just a little insider tip.

Similarly, you can call it ‘the canal’ if you drop Hood. It was originally Hood’s Channel, but got changed over a hundred years ago.
