Another fun adventure. It's so cool that you can beach your boat, no need for a dinghy, ha. That is a really pretty lake, I've never been there so thanks for bringing me along!

Great idea and concept! The entire lake and views become your own. And the cabin is practical for the other 320 days of the year for the view without grief.

Y'all should put outriggers on that....looks like it could capsize very easily!! Just a thought....🤓

The design might seem unstable, but flat-bottom boats are actually very sea worthy! We've been all over the Puget Sound and can attest to this stability firsthand. Check out this video if you're interested in learning more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJuQoYKkr86Dpsk

Do you have any videos of building your boat? what about building plans?
@babybluesbyphilbolger10 ай бұрын
Hey Dewey, She was built in 1997 in Oregon by Bernie Wolfard. We have a bunch of cool documents from the build and will be making a video on that, and a full detailed boat tour. The build was well documented, (though not in video), and much of it is available online. Search for "Phil Bolger Idaho" or "Bernie Wolfard Idaho" I know people that have bought plans online. You can get them from common sense boats, or probably from Susanne Altenburger. (the late Phil Bolger's wife)

Thank you! much appreciated. Would like to build something similar that I can sail from the Arkansas River (Ft. Smith) to the Mississippi on down to New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain (my home area) and back. @@babybluesbyphilbolger

the cure for wanting to camp on land is to have the child do lots of setup work of a tent.... we used to fill the front of our 16 foot centre console and go camping on an island.... soon as we had a boat big enough to sleep in, our boys were all in. wonderful boat of course, Our 16foot boat was self built but our bigger boat is classic glass from the 60s. I was surprised by the narrow beam but it pushes through the water well.... much like the 8ft Bolger design I built.... 30years (was it really that long?) ago.

People are often surprised by the narrow beam, she's Horrible turning at full speed but remarkably stable and worth the sacrifice to move so lightly across the water. Do you remember which Bolger design you built or know where it is now? Thanks for the comment!

@@babybluesbyphilbolger it was an 8 foot skimmer out of Payson's instant boat book. Bolger designed them, Payson built them to make sure they worked and then put the two books together. My son and I built it in our living room when he was 8 (mid 90s) It has since rotted and gone away. Not the best wood, not epoxy coated. It was my son's first exposure to power tools. We built a 16 ft "console skiff" from Glen L Larson plans about 2000 when he was 14... it is still in the garage ready to go.

@@lenwhatever4187 Woah, searching for Glen L gave me a TON of cool stuff to look at & My copy of Instant Boats should be here Friday! We hope to build a small car-topper sailboat here in the next few years. Trying to figure out something that could go on our Idaho's roof.🤔

I was going to give you a thumbs up until I noticed the kids not wearing PFD’s while underway. Experiential learning has proven unsuccessful with overboard victims. From a former NASBLA safe boating instructor.

Pretty sure the Columbia river does not contribute to the water level of this lake...

The Lake Kachess Watershed is the only supply of water to this lake. Not the Columbia Basin or the Yakima River. Water does not flow uphill.
