I hate to ask this but being used to CAD measuring was a simple process. How am I able to measure the length of a line when drawing a project.
@DGLaserCraft2 күн бұрын
No problem - I appreciate the question. Check out this video, "kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqfLpIFnidKYq68si=l9DCDacQs1cTSlas" and it should answer your question - if not, just let me know. The segment length is displayed in the pop up window. Take care - Dave!

xTool recommends setting the laser focus by dividing the material's thickness by 2 (Optimized for cutting). For example, if your material is 10mm thick, you would adjust the laser head to 5mm. Here's how to set it up: 1, Measure the thickness of your material and divide it by 2. 2, Use the right quick-adjust lever to set the laser head to this measurement. For a 10mm piece, set it to 5mm. 3, Lock the right lever to secure the position. 4, Drop the leg of the laser unit and loosen the left quick-adjust lever. 5, Slowly guide the laser head down until it touches the surface of the material, then lock the left lever. 6, Lift the leg back up and make any fine adjustments to the laser's settings in the software before starting the engraving process.

Thank you for all the straight to the point videos you create. I do a lot of designing in Lightburn in my house and then put the project file on a thumb drive and then take it to my computer in the garage where my lasers are. How would I transfer the art library between home computer and garage computer?
@DGLaserCraft6 күн бұрын
You are welcome and I appreciate you watching. The art library can also be moved with the thumb drive - they are stored as ".lbart" files. Just copy and place the file in a folder on your garage computer and load to that copy of Lightburn. Let me know if you have any problems with it - glad to answer questions anytime. Take care - Dave!

How long does it last until it falls apart?
@DGLaserCraft7 күн бұрын
The shirt from this video is still holding up, so about 6 months so far. Now, I have had some fall apart in the first wash if my power was set too high during the marking. It is really a trial and error process so I only made a few for personal use. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and for the question.

Great video. Did Lightburn change? This doesn't work anymore. When I select my path and text, right click, the "convert to path" option is always greyed out. Any ideas?
@DGLaserCraft8 күн бұрын
Hey Raymond, it does still work. To test, start with a blank workspace, type a word, draw a circle, select both then right click. You should have the option to "apply path to text" - give that a try and let me know if it works, if not, we will figure out what is going on.

@@DGLaserCraft Yeah I tried it several times. I did it many times in the past. Maybe there is a change in the last update? I have 1.7.01
@DGLaserCraft8 күн бұрын
@@raymondsprouse6230 I also have 1.7.01 and it is working with just the word "text" and a single circle. You can send screenshots to "[email protected]" and hopefully we can figure this out.

Kinda nuts. I’ve never had a fire in the 3 years I’ve been using my laser… I figured you had sprayed something on the wood and THAT caught fire so I was hoping to figure out what it was. The fact it was nothing but power and speed is really crazy. I never use my laser at full power ever. I always tone it down and slow the head or speed it up. Using lightburn I have all my settings pre set up for the laser itself based on what wood I’m cutting or engraving on.
@DGLaserCraft11 күн бұрын
It was certainly unexpected. Had a preset for 3mm basswood plywood of 6mps & 50% power, which probably would have been ok if the honeycomb was cleaner. I've used a clear coat prior to cutting other woods but nothing in this case. I appreciate you watching and providing input. Learned a lot from viewer experience and comments. Take care - Dave!

Hey there, Thank you so much for this video! Can you help with how you turn an image to the ability to do offset fill instead of just fill?
@DGLaserCraft16 күн бұрын
You are welcome and thank you for watching! To use offset fill for an image, you first have to vectorize it with the trace function in Lightburn - see video "kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5rHZmmJgZWUg7ssi=NWhp5_2fcCCFD4aG". If you want to engrave the image as an image, once it is imported, in the "cuts/layers" tab, you can double click on the layer(ex. C00 oo) and the cut settings will open up. Once the settings are open, look for "image mode" and with the drop down you can see a sample of the fill at the bottom of the window for each mode. Then on the left of the window, options for how to fill will be visible. I hope this is helpful. Let me know if I can be of more help. Thank you again!

Hey Dave I'm engraving a black and white svg but I'm engraving on a black surface how do I swop my image to where it will leave the black and engrave the white if that makes sense
@DGLaserCraft22 күн бұрын
If the black is the inner portion, you should be able to select one line of the white, shift and select the other, then run preview to check. If the white portion does not have a double line, you can offset to create. Hope this helps - let me know if not. Take care - Dave!
