One more question! Would you recommend the Complete Jewish Bible as a good translation with the goal in mind to understand the Scriptures through a 1st century Jewish lens? Just wondering which translation is the best one for this purpose. Thanks!

Thanks Mr. Bill! I really enjoyed this, especially the point of the significance of Gabriel, and how God interrupted what was going on with covenant business. It's so beautiful to see that this all happened perfectly fitting into the covenant with Israel. Shalom!

Never has the Church needed this message like now, right now, in preparation for the dark days of Jacob's trouble ahead of us, of which we have already seen glimpses since October 7th, 2024. Lord, give us eyes to see and ears to hear 🙏 Please, dear brother, continue to speak truth. There are not enough voices out there speaking truth the way you do. 😢 🙏

Hey brother Bill! I'm revisiting this video. :) Just wanted to say "thanks." The Lord really brough me clarity through this video a year or two back. Specifically the point you made about the judgment/discipline of God actually affirming His ongoing covenant relationship with Israel has been so helpful. That point has really brought clarity. (especially with encountering preterism lately) It reminds me of the curses/blessings in Deuteronomy 27-30. Once again, thank you for this, the Lord bless you brother! :)

Hey Bill. Thanks for your video. Is this the same Bill i grew up with across the street from me in the 2 story blue house that gave me my first small white Bible and shared Jesus with me when i was 7 yrs old? Jason

This is a little bit trippy. I grew up in a 2 story blue house across the street from someone named Jason who I really tried to share Jesus with. This is tripping me out, but possible. Instead of sharing your last name, do you remember the name of the road the blue house was on?

So basically when you teach while it's important to teach the peace and comfort parts taught in scripture you must also teach the necessity of growing a strong relationships with the Lord that will endure and you also need to make know that persecution will happen and that they need to be ready so they can endure when it happens. Am I correct
@BillScofield4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question. That is a fair explanation. I think the emphasis on the latter is quite important, and a vital part of trustworthy leadership. I hope that answers your question.

Is the kingdom here now? Does Yeshua rule from His throne in Jerusalem? Are the nations at war no more? Obviously the coming kingdom is still coming.
@dctalk307 ай бұрын
The terms “church” and “kingdom” are used interchangeably 1. Matthew 16:18-19 2. Revelation 1:4, 6, 9 3. This is why Christians are fellow citizens - Ephesians 2:19 4. Our citizenship is in heaven - Philippians 3:20 5. The kingdom of the present is the church In the future kingdom, the reign is turned back over to the Father - I Corinthians 15:22-26 The future kingdom is spoken of as an inheritance - I Corinthians 15:50; 6:9-10 It is a heavenly kingdom - II Timothy 4:18 Sometimes confusion occurs when a distinction is not made between the present kingdom and the future kingdom 1. Paul exhorts his brethren to endure to enter the kingdom - Acts 14:22 2. Peter says much the same - II Peter 1:10-11 3. The present kingdom can attract weeds, but these will not enter the everlasting kingdom in heaven.

Shalom dear Bill. Thank you for your arguments about restoration and not disappearing. That sounds very plausible and helps a lot to explain to others why the mentioned verses should be better translated according to the jewish narrative! I have a question about another passage about which I had already many talks with mainstream-christians because it seems that the passage and parallels might argue for a kingdom which has already come: Luke 9,27 (Mtt. 16,28, Mk.9,2). How would you explain these passages within an apocalyptic gospel message? Can you suggest commentaries explaining these passages within an apocalyptic jewish gospel narrative? Are there patristic writings explaining these sayings of Jesus? Thank you very much for your answer and time! 🤲😊
@BillScofield8 ай бұрын
Hello, Peter. Shalom to you! Pray you are well. I think those passages that you referenced are a beautiful reinforcement of the Jewish hope of the kingdom of God. In all three parallels the episode that follows is what Christians sometimes call 'the transfiguration'. This is because it is seen as Jesus taking a few disciples away and showing them his true glory, which he normally keeps hidden. What is actually happening is what Jesus says in the verses that you reference above. Matt. 16:28-35 records a visionary experience that God gave to Peter, John, and James where they saw the future Kingdom of God. Moses and Elijah, two Jewish characters who will obviously have a place in the coming Kingdom, appear in the vision to reinforce the message. Thus, some of those standing with the Messiah in v. 27 'saw the kingdom of God' before tasting death. Hope this helps. Shalom, friend.

What would be some samples of concrete ways in which the Church (or each of us individually) might be pulling weeds?
@BillScofield8 ай бұрын
Hi Maria. Great to hear from you. Very sorry for the delay here. In short, I think the parable specifically references entrusting the judgment of wicked men to God. I think Christianity's obsession with being a powerful movement can lend to seeing those who oppose their movement or who even oppose God as obstacles that God wants us to remove. I think this is especially seen in Christian nationalism which often sees their movement as God's hands and feet and those who oppose them as the enemies to God's plan. This is quite harmful. I often think of Jesus' words to his disciples in Matthew 10. In sending them to preach the Gospel he explains that he will even send them to the pagan governors and kings for his name. The context for these times before kings and rulers was persecution. They were being tried, often convicted, for their witness of the Messiah. Jesus says he is sending them into this terrible circumstance 'as a testimony to them'. Meaning, Jesus loves these pagan rulers and kings so much that he is willing to send his precious lambs to be imprisoned, or worse, just so that they might have a chance to repent before the judgment. Hope this helps. Shalom friend.

@BillScofield this is very, very helpful. Thank you so much. I couldn't see it in a practical/concrete manner, but what you explained helped me understand what it means to refrain from pulling weeds. Thanks be to the God of Israel for raising up faithful teachers/preachers like Bil Scolfield, John Harrigan, Josh Hawkins and others. I recently came acrossed an Anglican Priest, scholar, teacher, (wears other hats as well) who was turned away from supercessionism he always held to understanding Israel Biblically. His name is Gerald McDermott. His book is "The New Christian Zionism."

Thank you Bill. I needed this having been getting lost in my circumstances. My husband was murdered in November. Focusing on what’s to come, the redemption, restoration, judgment and my getting to see him again is what is getting me through this.
