Oculink does not support hot-swap. So you need to turn off the laptop first.

I heard that intel is not good when it comes to the eGPU, at least if you use Thunderbolt connection. I am planning to test b580 as eGPU next month

@trysometech52 I know, I did a painful amount of research and realized it's the issue is ReBar compatibility you without it you lose 5-10% of performance with Nvidia and 10-15% with Radeon and 15-20% with Intel since it heavily depends on ReBar for optimal performance if you get a laptop with bios that support ReBar you gett better results will the Intel GPU but if you want a fast setup green/red GPUs are eraser and more simple

I haven't tried it, and I don't really want to be taking any risks :) In any case, the HDMI/DP cable will be connected to the video card, and you'll have to reconnect it from it to the PC, which doesn't sound convenient.

@@trysometech52 it works well on my MSI Claw (Intel TB4). I connect it to a TB5 HUB and then to my MSI Claw. I can plug it in whenever I want and unplug it whenever I want, no problem. The iGPU works again if I unplug it.

I also have the TH3P4G3, which also has 2200/3000 mb/s PCI E 3.0 on MSI CLAW. With the Legion Go/Rog ALLY X, there's no loss because it's an AMD USB4 and not an Intel. Normally, on the Legion GO, the bandwidth is 3400 mb/s 3600 mb/s with UT3G, but I bought a Thunderbolt 5 HUB from OWC, which gives more bandwidth with an Intel TB4 chipset. With a TB4 HUB, I also get 2200/3000 mb/s bandwidth with the UT3G. Now, the TB5 HUB chipset is Barlow Ridge. It provides more bandwidth for the MSI Claw in TB4, but less than for the Legion Go in USB4. According to my dat on my CLaw, it's: 2800 mb/s 3600 mb/s on the MSI Claw Intel TB4 chipset. That's still more than the TB4 HUB. I have no more latency. This is the maximum you can get with the MSI Claw Intel TB4 chipset. A little less than USB4, but more than TH3p4G3.

(4k maximized gaming on the likes of cyberpunk and stuff, i just like visually stunning games) i dont mind FG and utilization of DLSS, or can this only be answered when it truly releases? i definitely still want to see the results but i just need to know if its even worth buying since i already preordered and i dont want to regret it

I am pretty sure that you'll get a better performance with the 4070ti but we can't compare them directly since the 7800xt is a mobile version. So I am not sure if it's worth it. Are you located in Budapest?

Well still in comparison this screen is much bigger, and it has a higher pixel density too. With eGPU I was able to play with good settings at ~100fps And of course there are other games besides Sifu :)

Hey, I was also interested in that products, but I feel like it's not worth it. You'll pay extra for TB5 and at the same time will be limited to USB4 speeds. Any other eGPU will make more sense in terms of price. I feel like releasing a z13 with an outdated USB4 port and at the same time an eGPU with TB5 is a crime

You can't use any eGPU with that port. Only TB3/4 or USB4 ports support eGPU

m.2. x4 slot should work just fine. Wifi slot usually x1, so be careful with that. Overall I have other eGPU videos that covers this topic
