Yeah Ody was the only one who listened to the siren so he’s the only one who knew about Scylla. He didn’t even bother TRYING to explain to the crew this was truly the only way they had to get home. Eury of course is very upset that Ody intentionally made him an unwitting accomplice to those deaths by having him hand out the torches. So of course in the crew’s perspective seeing Ody coldly sacrifice six of them to a monster, yeah a mutiny is gonna happen! “My brothers… why?” ODY YOU KNOW FULL WELL WHY! Eury killing the cow was basically suicide by god. Poseidon wasn’t letting them fish, and they were STARVING, it was either suicide by god or slowly starving to death. It was a lose-lose situation. He’d lost hope completely. Opening the wind bag? Bad move obviously, but chances are Poseidon would’ve killed those 500 men as soon as they were at Ithaca’s shores anyways. He KNEW where Ody lived cause he revealed his name to Polyphemus, and there was NOTHING to stop him from doing so! Him wanting to leave the men behind at Circe’s? Ody got LUCKY that Hermes decided to step in and help or he would’ve been dead. So of course Eury doesn’t think there’s any possible way to win against her! It’s actually Ody who changes his perspective on this by managing to save the men. In my opinion both Ody and Eury are morally gray characters who things would’ve gone better for if they could’ve just trusted each other. 💔 Scylla has to be my favorite song from this saga her voice is so good and perfectly captures Ody feeling like a monster just like Scylla! The way Scylla’s words can relate to both Eury AND Ody! 😩

This saga is my favorite because Circie's musical motif is so pretty and I love how her voice sounds. "There are other ways" is my favorite song just because their harmonies are so pretty and when Odysseus sings about missing his wife is so good awjhfu;sfjring.

Underworld saga more like Trauma saga fr fr. 😭 They really hit us with the one-two punch with Polites AND THEN Ody’s mom! Monster sets up Ody’s transformation in the second act so well! My favorite song from this saga would probably be No Longer You just for the foreshadowing.

Pretty sure the motif at the beginning is a reference to Full Speed Ahead, with "Give me 'til sunrise, and if we don't return, then 600 men can make this whole place burn." Because alike that song, the crew is moving onto an unfamiliar island which is full of magic.

I think what Poseidon is trying to say with “Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves” is as you said. Poseidon is ruthless to his enemies (Ody in this case) to keep anyone from trying to mess with him or his kin (the Cyclops) in the future. He cares about Polyphemus to an extent I think, but it’s mainly about his reputation to him, his reputation as a god not to be messed with. I don’t believe Poseidon would’ve taken an apology from Ody even if he had made a genuine one. You’re correct that it’s certainly a twisted philosophy, but also that Polites’ “Open Arms” philosophy hasn’t been helping as much as Ody would like either, and how it’s these two ideologies Ody struggles with throughout the musical! :) Ruthlessness is definitely my favorite of this saga!

Polites’ death hurts so much! The first man to die under Ody’s command after not loosing anyone to 10 years of war in Troy, and it’s his childhood best friend! 😭 The way his death continues to haunt the narrative with the “Open Arms” motif throughout the musical! My favorite song from this saga is probably My Goodbye.

This is one of my favorite sagas! It’s one of the few where things actually turn out okay using kindness like Polites would’ve wanted, like a fun beach episode before more trauma. 🥲 Wouldn’t You Like is my favorite from this saga Troy’s voice is amazing, and Hermes is just such a fun character!

Actually polites came to me in a vision and told me he's never done anything wrong ever in his entire life. Ody only brought him to war so he could wear him like a thunder jacket when he got anxious. This is Canon, Jorge my close personal friend told me.

Definitely Full Speed Ahead. I just love the sea-shanty vibe and the argument between Odysseus, Polites and Eurylochus is everything to me, I wish we got to see them interacting more. Great analysis btw!
