I have SO LOVED all of my Pekingese dogs. I have had 3. One white one one black and one blonde. They are all such loving and loyal dogs. They will alert you if someone comes near. I don't recommend them with children because they are small and delicate but it can work if you watch out for your them. I am 86 and my last one just died at age 12 and I miss him so. They are more expensive now. I live in Kansas and would like to get another one so if you know anyone that breeds them around here let me know. I don't need a show dog just a good companion to spoil.

We have a little girl that is half Pekingese and half Chihuahua. She DEMANDS your undivided attention as much as possible. If you pay attention to anything else (other pets, human toddlers, your phone, a book, ect) she will physically squeeze herself in between you and the offending thing and stare at you with this adorable but sassy look on her face! Her fur and nails grow at least twice as fast as our full long-haired chi's and her butt especially has this weird cottony texture that makes getting an electric shaver through it quite a hassle, so while we take care if the chi's fur on our own, she goes to a groomer, and she we have to trim her nails twice for every one time we need to trim the chi

If a person has little kids the pekingese will become aggressive because little kids can be to aggressive with the puppy when handling the dog. Most Pekingese do not like little kids because they're too aggressive when they try to play with the dog. Ive had 6 pekingese in my life. Rt now i have 2, male & female. I dont let any kids around my dogs because my dogs did not like being around little kids. Little kids do not understand that Pekingese dogs do not like to be manhandled.

We are going to adopt a 1.5 years old Peke girlie in a month or so. Both of my parents are working, I have a 14 year old sister and I am a uni student who studies in another city. My sister comes home around 5pm and my parents around 6 to 8 pm. My sister swears to take her to walks. And I plan to visit home every other weekend. We love animals as a family too and we are adopting this baby because her previous owner is an old lady who is sick. Would we be the correct choice for the baby? We had a golden retriever before we loved very much but he was at home at the wrong time. I was a 2nd grader and my mom was just gave birth back then and he was a strong dog so we ended up rehoming him. I want a dog so bad since I also had to go out for walks for my depression and other health issues but very unmotivated. Help😅

My pekingese is 14 and she has like passed out twice she like faints and pees herself and dies for like a few seconds the last time I swear she was dead for like a minute and then she started to come back they say that it's her heart and that she'll probably slowly get worse I assume that's how she's gonna die it's very traumatic... Otherwise she's very hyper and has alot of energy for 14 her name is Minnie and she's my everything... I'm so sad that she's gonna pass at any minute now I assume with what's happened in the last couple months ... Is that considered congestive heart failure?

For some reason the Peke I had for 17 years did not like black people and the only adult man she ever liked was a neighbor who fed her hotdogs. She was jealous of all other animals and through nothing at all of attacking any dog that was bigger than she was, especially if food was involved.

My very first dog was a white Pekingnese. I was 3 when we got him. I wheeled him around in my doll buggy, he took part in my tea parties and loved to follow me around in the yard and in the neighborhood. He even tolerated my playing "zoo" with him. An upside down laundry basket was a cage and he was the wild animal in the zoo. Great companion. I just remember my.mom was very frustrated by all of the shedding. Now I am 61 and considering getting one again. I hope they are alert watch dogs. I would love to know if UPS has dropped off a package and certainly if an intruder were trying to break in.

Think one of the main causes of aggression in Pekingese is rough handling. Because they are like little fluffy teddy bears does not mean they want random people picking them up or touching them it’s very upsetting and scary for them. Nobody would try to pick up an German shepherd or Doberman. If your Pekingese is aggressive he or she has not been socialised properly and may have suffered some trauma where people have been cruel. I’ve even seen some videos on KZbin where people are teasing their poor little Pekingese and it’s growling and obviously very upset and scared and they are laughing! Can’t understand why anyone would find this amusing would they like it? Love your beautiful little Pekingese boy or girl they are the most wonderful dogs💕❤️🌹🌺💐 Ps……..all dogs are 🙂 x x

Dogs are carnivores with SLIGHT omnivorous tendencies. The politically correct agenda and opinions of the vegan/vegetarian dog owners that forces their human eating habits onto their dogs is the worst type of anthropomorphism. It disrespects the animal and fails to recognize his true nature and needs. I deeply respect vegans and vegetarians. I believe it's a choice based on compassion and a healthy lifestyle for humans, but the AVMA official position, the basic understanding of canine dietary habits in the wild, and simple respect for your dog as a DOG should make plain how terrible forcing dogs to avoid meats is. Particularly in a brachycephalic breed like the peke- already prone to bad gas and bloat- a totally non-meat diet will only produce more gas that can be very painful for pekes due to their unusual body structure. Every long term study of feeding this unnatural diet for the lifetime of a dog has produced results somewhere between fair to poor. Cats have received even more terrible consequences from vegan diets as is confirmed in similar tests on them. Failure to thrive, arthritis, blindness, and cancer are all more common in cats being abused and having their needs neglected by uneducated vegetarian/vegan owners. The few vets standing by such abusive diets are widely disrespected by the larger community of vets. It's just as unnatural as it would be if the roles were reversed. If wolves had (hypothetically) domesticated humans and forced us to kill live game and tear it apart and eat it raw, they would have been ignoring our greater tendency to get sick from raw meat and our absolute need for a more omnivorous or even vegetarian diet. They would be ignoring nature to confirm their own biases and choices. I suppose that would be canipromorphism instead of anthropomorphism.
