Close pitch, closed vents, cold and wet ground. Always going to condensate. No tent would be dry in those conditions. The cloth is the answer….or stop breathing!

I don't understand how people can sleep on top of a PVC or Plastic air pad. Sticking to the pad and sweating. Dirty from camping and etc . Then crawling into and on top of pad and then I guess a Plastic or rubber pillow ... NO DAMN WAY ! Sheet and pillow case please ! If they are worried about the weight don't go or stay at Holiday Inn Express. No skin disease for me ! WOW NASTY... lol

Thats a great setup! I was almost decided on a bridge hammock and a warbonnet superfly tarp, giving me as much of a closed setup as possible with a hammock, but im honestly reconsidering going with a Draumr 5 and one of these 4x4 tarps. I dont want to buy something and regret it, not a fan of consumerism. Would love some advice. (I'll be bicycle touring in averse weather)
@walkaboutphilpots3795 Жыл бұрын
Be aware the 4x4 tarps are big and tricky to pitch , mine is moded 4 x 2.5 . Can you be sure of trees ? You can ground pitch the Amok also see shugs channel he set his up with Warbonnet Superfly Tarp although not as much cover as mine. 4 x 2.5 is the perfect size so far for me hope this helps abit.

@walkaboutphilpots37952 жыл бұрын
Hi , Glad you liked the vid it was a fun night. Long term thoughts are.....It is Bright for stealth camping but as i am in Scotland thats not a problem unless i want to be discreet. I think for the money it is hard to beat for a Fly sheet first. Plenty of room for one with a big pack inside, Tough fly sheet and a very chill black inner with orange zips not blinding in the morning. When i use it i take the poles out then i can get it in my Backpack side pocket. I think it is a great tent and still have it and the Bowland 1. I will be going out init again this Autumn and will do another vid. 40 pounds is unbeatable. Cheers, atb. comes in at 2.364 grams a little under 2.4 kg , very acceptable for a tough covenant tent.

I’ve got a SC2 all to myself, which is rather palatial to be honest. Have no issues of tent inner flapping around my face. Everyone else has mentioned condensation issues. Experienced similar issues using a F10 Helium UL1. I loved the tent design but the outer fly just let rain penetrate straight through. Would definitely consider the UL 2 version.

All removed in 1700 only a Eagle could take a very young deer now. Culling keeps them under control now. There are wild bore in the next valley not pleasant when they have young and can do damage to Humans.

For a hot tent setup, or at least better wind protection i'd recommend the warbonnet superfly, or something similar. But its best with other hammocks (non perpendicular lay)

That fan is a next-level mod! How's the noise from it? I'm not sure if you've clipped the door up using both clips yet? Using just one allows the door to droop down quite a bit. Clipping the "lower" clip to the right hand side of the "higher" clip keeps the door quite tightly raised. Not sure if that's of any help to you? Your device for spreading the tent inner is pretty nifty too. Stunning views over the sea there. I had a chilly night in mine last night too (vid should be online later tonight). I'm glad you enjoyed it more this time!
@walkaboutphilpots37952 жыл бұрын
The door clip info is very helpful indeed and i appreciate it . It was a bit to cold and chilly on this camp to use , but this did enable me to put the fan on test. @@walkaboutphilpots3795 Sounds like a winner if condensation proves to be a problem then!
@joinmeoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Another SC1 owner here 👍 I waited till the end of the video to comment, and I see that you spotted that the velcro flaps were still raised, blocking the only two air vents on the tent. The flysheet comes right down to the ground on this tent, so it's really important that you ventilate it, otherwise you're sealing yourself into a bit of a greenhouse. The clip near the bottom of the door allows you to clip the bottom of the door to it, and then lower the bottom zip again after you've clipped the door up. This gives you some extra ventilation, and by lowering the bottom zip, you can keep the door taut in order to minimise flapping. Lowering the upper door zip adds even more ventilation (if rain permits!). I thought condensation on the SC1 might be a deal breaker, but I no longer have any concerns about it. Lovely sunny sky you had at the end of the video there!
@walkaboutphilpots37952 жыл бұрын

@@walkaboutphilpots3795 It can be easy to get disheartened after a less-than-perfect initial experience of something you had really high hopes for! I hope your mods and another camp or two mean that you end up happy with it. If not, there are lots and lots of tents out there to choose from. No condensation issues in a breezy hammock, I don't suppose! I'll keep an eye out for your next one 👍
@tonycave7426 Жыл бұрын
I use my SC1 with a Wild Country Utility Porch Tarp which provides a roof over the door and a small exterior storage area.This allows the door to be left partially or even fully open to provide lots of ventilation even whilst it is raining
