Great video. Recently bought one of these mats. Had the neoair xtherm before this, I have to say the sea to summit offers me a lot more comfort than the neo air and i am no longer rolling off during the night 😁

I’m going off mine. It’s really bulky. Unbelievably comfortable and warm. But I struggle with the size. Better for a minimalist winter camp. Great bit of kit though no question.
@walkaboutphilpots37952 жыл бұрын
Yes you have to pack it hard to get the size down great for those 2-4 mile easy hike in camps lighter is better for the long haul. It is my most comfy mat though . Have a great week.

Hi Is it possible that you are going to make a review of the Sea to Summit Ether light xt Exstreme, where you compare it to some of the other winterpads, like Therm-a-rest NeoAir Xtherm, Nemo Tensor Alpine, Exped Downmat 9 and so on...?
@walkaboutphilpots37953 жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas , i do not own those pads at the moment but it would be great to see a comparison i agree . Thanks for dropping by.

@@walkaboutphilpots3795 thanks man🙂. Sea to Summit declares for 12x28cm, that's why I asked you about the real size. I bought a Comfort Plus Large self-inflating mat and instead of 17cm it has a width of 20cm when put in a bag
@walkaboutphilpots37953 жыл бұрын
@@trip_in_the_mirror Hey if you roll it super tight and put 2 elastic bands around to stop it unfolding i got it to 15cm wide that would be the max unless you are Tom Stoltman .atb.

Hi mate, great review. Have you had a chance to try it out with the Amok? Thanks
@walkaboutphilpots37953 жыл бұрын
Hi no it was heavy rain this weekend but i will pop it in during the week and get back to you , i have a feeling it may not be ridged enough we will see, worth a try . atb. I have a 3.0 which is tighter on the LW standard than their new versions i will try it though.
@lightsguy67523 жыл бұрын
@@walkaboutphilpots3795 Thanks for the answer. I'm planing to buy the new amok in the spring, but for now I need a new mat for winter tent camping. For what I've read the Ether is one of the most comfortable mats out there so if it could do both tent and amok camping it would be great. Otherwise I'll have to buy a fjol because of budget constraints... Maybe you will be the first to try it out because I searched a little bit and I couldn't find anything. Cheers

@@lightsguy6752 I tried it today i will upload a vid it does work not quite as ridged as the amok but put it this way IM not buying a Amok winter mat now.

The amok hammock is designed for the particular lay of their hammock. It needs a vertical baffle design

Thank you for info good vlog. BUT why to people blow into the pump bag? Defeats the purpose of keep moisture, mold out of the sleeping mat. LOL . so many do it. Stay well, and thank you.
@walkaboutphilpots37953 жыл бұрын
Your Welcome . Static Air is in the Bag , a small puff compresses it to create a full bellow . It may introduce some moisture I agree I will do it without next time. Atb.
@Jmaccxx3 жыл бұрын
This is true for a sub par mat but Sea To Summit have an anti microbial treatment added to their TPU. You can blow them up by mouth if preferred.

I don't understand how people can sleep on top of a PVC or Plastic air pad. Sticking to the pad and sweating. Dirty from camping and etc . Then crawling into and on top of pad and then I guess a Plastic or rubber pillow ... NO DAMN WAY ! Sheet and pillow case please ! If they are worried about the weight don't go or stay at Holiday Inn Express. No skin disease for me ! WOW NASTY... lol

My Amok Lw is 995 grams so for the insulation value of the xt its not bad but for light weight back packing there are other options for sure.
