This is a fantastic breakdown of the Remarkable use case. It’s a like having a digital Moleskin or my personal favorite Shinola notebook. My company provides me an awful Dell laptop. I don’t use it much. I use an M1 IPad Pro, 12.9 for most of what I do. The remarkable is for clarity of thought. When I’m brainstorming. I also it to take notes when I’m in person or using my iPad for Video Meetings. The remarkable is the perfect size and has the best writing experience. It’s a notepad. That’s what I like, but the hardware is outpaced by the software. I doubt I’ll upgrade however. It’s a notebook. I will however be upgrading to the M4 IPad 13in.

Free maps for Kindle Scribe!!! Hi all I own a Scribe and wanted topographic maps for it. I found that the US Geologic Service has maps online for all states and these can be downloaded for free in PDF format. Load them on your desktop computer then move them to your Amazon Library with the sendtokindle web page and they will appear on your kindle. Loaded on your Scribe you will be able to view them, zoom into them and use your stylus to mark the map up with notes, arrows and X marks for your buried treasure sites. Great for planning hikes Have Fun.

Craziest feature of this is the book mark IS the tab. So if you have book marks. Just click on it and the page loads as if it was already opened even though it was just a book mark. So no more "book marks vs open tabs of the book marks" ... how cool is that.

ok I spent like 20 mins and I think im sold. It takes some getting used to but im already starting to feel the "focus" on what you are currently doing on a web page. And there is no distractions on top. And you can go "full screen" by simple saying dismiss the side bar. You want to go to another web page, just move your mouse to the left of the screen and it pops out.

Thank you for your video. It helped me to narrow my expectations. Mostly because I only use my eink tablet for writing and creativity. But it's true that I miss a lot the colour option. Before my eink device, I wrote and used notebooks regularly, and I always carry a pack of colour pens (I still do carry them with me and a notebook). But using a e-ink tablet is so cool and nice feeling, knowing that everything is in there and reachable... So, if you are a creative that is extremely happy with the remarkable like experience... But you need colour to develop your work... Where should I be looking for? I really don't need all that connectivity and computer/phone apps... But I need at least some size for my notes to write and design on. Is the Tab Ultra C the only option? Would the Nova AirC be ok today? Could I use the Kobo Libra Colour? Thank you in advance for your time and help! Have a very nice week!

If you purchase the subscription, can you share a Google doc from your computer/phone to the RM2 and edit/add to it via the type folio? I use Google docs to write but I would like to go back and forth, using the RM2 to type outdoors in full sunlight as I edit and improve my content. I can't figure out how to do it but I wonder if the Connect subscription would make it possible

The massive annoyance for me is the lack of backlight on the RM2. Kindle Scribe is nice, but not as pleasant to use, and as you said, the software is SERIOUSLY lacking. And when you use a desk light with the RM2, it annoyingly reflects on most of the screen.

I own this, and LOVE to write on it, and use it WHEN I get a chance to USE it. But I find myself too worried on using it and breaking it, and I think this is the biggest reason it doesn’t get used as much as I would. It’s a very expensive writing tablet. If you break it, it’s a big loss! Even when traveling, I find myself opting not to pack it, because when I fly and travel for work, it can get hectic. It hinders my packing because now I am too worried to over-pack and causing it to bend inside my backpack or carry-on. A cheap notepad is durable takes a beating and still works (a also drop things a lot). Lol. So, I use it at home more often than I do on the road.

Thanks for doing this but guys, it’s a matter of physics and chemistry -titanium WILL eventually scratch and damage the surface of your glass screen. In engineering there is something called the Mohrs scale of hardness. Glass is 5 and titanium is 6. It’s not a question of if, but when it will cause damage. People saying oh, I have been using it for x months and all good’….etc sooner or later it will eventually cause damage. Person A could be pressing slightly lighter than person B for instance, person B would see damage say after 4 months and person A after 6 months for example. It’s why train wheels are intentionally made softer than the tracks that they ride on as it’s easier to replace them vs hundreds of miles of tracks. Ceramics can be even worse! Certain compounds can be almost twice the hardness rating, up to 9 on the scale vs 5 for glass. It’s a trade off, using cardboard nibs on glass. If you don’t press so hard you can make them last longer. Some people report up to 6 months and even more on one nib. Small price to pay, I think… Manufacturers in China will make them (ceramic and titanium nibs) because people will buy them, simple economics 😊

Your physics are on point, but in practice under normal circumstances it’s not proving to be a major factor. What is proving to be a major factor is the wear on the internals of the stylus itself.

What pisses me off the most about these devices is that everyone is just ok with the prices and the criticism is dismissed as "It's a niche product so of course it's expensive". That argument is just wrong. These aren't niche, they're expensive. The proof? If these things were affordable, wouldn't every student have one? Grade 1 all the way through college / university. Every tradesman, artist, professional, etc, etc. These things would be a multi billion dollar a year industry, if only eink (the company) weren't so incompetent / greedy. I don't blame the makers of these devices, I blame the company that makes the eink displays

Anyone on the fence, allow me to help you. Do you want to replace your $5 notebook with a $600+ tablet that is only capable of taking notes? If so, then these devices are for you. There is only one advantage to these devices and that is that it really does feel like writing on paper when you use their stylus'. And that the paper display is easier on the eyes. That's it. An Ipad is CHEAPER and does everything these do. It just doesn't give you the paper experience. Personally, I can't stand writing on paper and I'll never understand the desire to replicate it. To summarize, if you already have a tablet, you'd be spending an additional $600 to get a paper experience. If you don't already have a tablet, and want / need one, you'll be spending an additional $600 to get a paper experience...

the struggle I have is recollection and search. I think the Remarkable 2 still doesn’t allow for easy search of handwritten notes? Does it allow for search on the mobile app or desktop app (is there a desktop app/web app?) - if so that may be good enough, using the tablet mainly for the immediate notes.
