Honestly, This is probably my favorite loop of the whole SCIP trail. Even with the changes they did earlier this summer due to the small wooden bridge possibly washing out. It has one of my riding nemesis features in it where you now drop down into the guly suddenly and have to tread between the two trees. Anyway, Thanks for sharing this !
@Chasing-DaydreamАй бұрын
I enjoy this segment too. But North loop is my favorite. If I understand correctly, that little wooden bridge kept growing fins during heavy rains and would swim away. So they created the bypass and improved that segment Thank you. .
@winkleriedАй бұрын
@@Chasing-Daydream That would not surprise me about that bridge.
@winkleriedАй бұрын
I agree with your title in that it is magical and I really enjoy riding in it during all seasons when it is open. Any reason why you skipped the Orange Loop ? IMHO it and the blue loop are the most challenging parts of this trail.
@Chasing-DaydreamАй бұрын
Thanks for commenting. I was trying to keep the video short for this upload. But I did do the orange trail that day. Its also one of my favorites. When I first started I thought north loop was harder. But the climb where the video ends that gets us up past Blacks entrance always hurts.
@winkleriedАй бұрын
@@Chasing-Daydream I saw and commented on that Orange Loop video. I understand wanting to keep videos short. The Blue-Black transition is adequetely named. I call it “Nemesis #3”. Done more than Cartwheel Of Shame. Transitioning from Blue to Black.

Great peddles, may I suggest thick socks or shin guards, a peddle to the shin can hurt, not that you can’t take it or haven’t been through worse. Regardless, cool upgraded peddles 🎉

Ahh man. Im real on guard for those spikes. They have bit me a few times already. Nothing too serious. Always when I'm just moving my bike. Haven't been bit while on the trail yet. Thanks for the suggestion.

Me too. That's why I wanted to learn how to do it when I was a kid. But when I got a bike again. I couldn't find the right balance and do it anymore. So I'm really excited that I finally have an agreement with my bike on a balance point. It gives your hands and back a break and it allows you to work different leg muscles than you would leaned over.

try wearing two pairs of socks. It gives your feet some extra cushioning and leaves less room in the shoe for your feet to move about. it works better then using one thick pair of socks

What's your riding shorts situation? I have pearl izumi's. $55 on Amazon. I never have to change out my seat because of that. Also if you aren't maybe consider a dropper post to avoid underside area hits from features. My bikes have been stuck in the garage for too long hopefully that will change. Awesome job sticking with it.
@Chasing-Daydream2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the shorts suggestion. A good pair is on my shopping list. Mine are just academy wannabes. Unfortunately, I would have to go wireless for a dropper post. Marlin 8 for my gen, doesn't have the routing for a wire one. Definitely should get the bikes back out. You know what they say. If you dont use it. You loose it. 😂😊

Thank you. At the time, I was thinking. Why did I just shiver? I shrugged it off thinking I was probably getting overheated or dehydrated. Maybe I still was and it was coincidental. Maybe it was subconscious cause my brain recognized what I passed. But my mind was occupied with surviving the ride. Lol. Idk. It was more startling than weird though.

That's great to ride any group ride. Mostly I rode by myself. Up to a 45 mile commute to Casa Grande from Mesa, Arizona. I also rode the 325 mile Arizona Challenge twice and many long solo rides and small group rides to get ready and for fun. I used old 10 and 12 speed non indexed derailleur systems. The 70's and 80's were long ago. At 73 or so I do ride an indexed system on my first aluminum non chrome moly frame.

Great job on recording and editing this video. And great job on the ride. I've been cycling for a LONG time, but I don't do dirt. I grew up in a small NW Oklahoma town that had two paved streets--Main Street and the street in front of the school. I grew up riding every day to school and all over town and the countryside around town, so I got all the dirt riding I ever want to do by the time I was 16 and got my driver's license. Sorry for your loss. I truly believe cycling will be one of your courses to healing. It has literally saved my life more than once. Too complicated to get into here.

Thank you for sharing your opinion on the video. I put some thoughts into my music selections and when. And was able to get some decent side footage. It was fun to edit. Up in the pan handle I assume? Everything up towards NWO is pretty flat. Windmill country. I understand being burnt out on dirt roads. And yeah my life is way more complicated than I talk about. That's for sure. So I can relate to that. That's why I'm putting so much into riding. It's my escape. And a life saver for me as well. Thanks for the feedback, story, and encouragement. 🫶🙂

Great video, forgive my ignorance, is this an offical MTB trail? i always thought it was walkers with dogs.
@Chasing-Daydream6 ай бұрын
Thank you. I thought the same question about this trail, until the trails managers educated the community page about it. It may eventually get a name change. IDK. Unlike the main MTB trail system. It is not part of the OEF/now called OMBA, MTB trails. It can be used by mtbers, walkers, and dog bikers. But, no horses, no motorbikes. The trail is kept packed down and with minimal sticker weeds, by bikes using it. And is managed and trail cut, by bicyclists. Also unlike the main Draper MTB trail system, It doesn't close when it rains. But a courtesy to the trail builders is to not ride if your tires are leaving tracks.. To help prevent tire ruts once the soil dries. But yes. It is an official multi use trail that was named The Dog Trail a long time ago.

@48:07 I meant to say, That is why the Cat's go "longer", not last. They actually start earlier than novice. There's a few reasons I suppose but my personal favorite is. So they are spread out more by the time novice starts and they're not so intimidating to riders just entering the trail. Like me. Lol.

Thank you. I've got dreams of being fit enough to justify traveling the country and experiencing races elsewhere. But baby steps right now. Oklahoma appears to have some pretty decent cross country style mtb trails if I'm understanding cross country correctly. But I'm just starting to realize what cross country is. I hope to eventually ask one of the fast locals to wear my camera so we can see what these trails ride like at real speeds. But I'm just excited to be getting out there and doing it. And I'm thankful for the Tour de Dirt race communities that make it feel welcoming for beginners like me. Thank you as well for letting me know your first impression of my videos and channel.. Getting to hear someones first impression is hard to come by. Happy for the feedback and encouragement.😃 😊😊
