Ive seen that work in a real fight exactly zero times. It looks cool, but it wont even work in a point match

Funny, I hadn’t thought of using my cell phone as a weapon until I was messing around with my son on a line at SeaWorld and he was trying to grab my phone and I remember from martial arts attack with what’s closest to your opponent so I just pushed my phone into his chest while he was pulling it away- and I thought man have been trying to figure out what weapons I can carry without getting in trouble such as tactical pens or plastic made knife and I completely overlooked how destructive your phone can be and it also gives you approximately 4 inches more reach on your hand/arm length even though I did it lightly to him he said ouch I was like oh man, I’m sorry - so hitting anything with your cell phone, especially a throat or head face would definitely help you to either win, subdue or escape

Absolutely love your self defence techniques Sensei and excellent lesson for us female karateka and I absolutely love your shortened white gi length my boyfriend just bought me a new 16 ounce white tournament gi and I’m going to shorten it similar to yours ! Most of my female karate black belts have done the same, are us women setting a new fashion trend at the dojo ? lol, Regards from Sensei Kate (Sandan) OSS ❤️🥋...

Pay some respect! Sensei Poage died of brain cancer 7 years ago and he was (and still is to this day) a very well established and respected martial artist. You will never achieve what he has done, not even in ten lives and you are just a squishy invertebrate compared to him.

tbh it actually does work, in street fights majority of people just swing for the fences with little to no technique, if you can aggressively block and pull his arm down it can throw them off balance and you can counter quickly or go for an armbar.
@corny3872 ай бұрын
The vast majority of first strikes in street fight situations are right-handed haymakers to the face. You can tell if a martial art is well-crafted by how early the defense for such an attack shows up in the curriculum (should be one of the first, if not very first, scenarios taught). Resistance has to be added progressively in training - students need to see a technique succeed to start to understand why it works, and then slowly add more realism to the training to make it work in real-life situations.

She said, "I don't feel comfortable that I could get my gun out fast enough." The key takeaway is draw speed in an emergency situation, not gun carrying comfort in general. Context matters. Don't be an ass.

Everyone retracts there punches on the street. And throws there hands in succession. Your system caters for karate punching not street fighting. How effective would your system be against a street brawler.

The hit after blocking is useless. Granted you pull the first defense off because the opponent punches straight, your opponent is already backing away or shooting the next moves.
@55Quirll3 ай бұрын
How do you think boxers learn? This is to learn how to perform the strikes properly, in real life there are no rules so it depends on how well you have mastered these techniques

You can hyper extend the elbow easy enough If you put the stress on the shoulder you might damage some connective tissue but "break" the shoulder? Im skeptical that's going to work in a real life situation where everyone is acting and reacting in real time

@weeble59333 ай бұрын
YES everything he just said and showed will work perfectly if your opponent punches and leaves the punch out there so you can do all of that. And it also works when you want to teach people BS Karate and take there money. Real Karate is called Kyokushin and Kudo.
@Jlocke20243 ай бұрын
Don't oversimplify. I've done MMA, stick, knife--all that. I've also done Karate similar to this and there's a place for it on the street. This obviously would never work against a wrestler or otherwise trained combat athlete. But against a street punk, especially someone not as strong as you, best believe there's tricks to the trade.
@nkesteren3 ай бұрын
Seems very effective against people who hit straight. Like people who knife stab from the top.
