@placidobaamonde63746 ай бұрын
@placidobaamonde63746 ай бұрын
Gracias.

I own a G85 and I am still learning how to shoot properly oh man I'm really in love with your work it is so amazing. I have a question if you don't mind do you use ND filters and LUTS when you grade your footage or its just corrections you do on post? I am becoming a fan of your work cheers. Lex from Sunshine Coast Qld.
@VIPictures15 жыл бұрын
Hi Lex, thanks for the kind words. The G85 is very capable camera and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it. My advice to you will be to learn and practice a lot. Become a good editor and learn how to grade. Learn how to use scopes and use them when grading. If I can't shoot at the desired F stop @ the desired shutter speed, I use ND filters. It safe to say that during the day (outdoors), I always have ND's. I use Vary ND's so I can dial the exposure precisely. I grade mostly manually, but often I use film stock emulation luts on top of my grade. Welcome to the wonderful world of filmmaking and good luck :)

It looks great! I've purchased the V-Log update for my gh5 and never used it again since I got banding at blue skies at 8bit. But I want to benefit from 4k60p. I just bought V-log and have done some research on it on the internet. There are a lot of negative responses when shooting 8 bit, mostly about the banding concern when colour grading. I do see some bandings in your footages, but it doesn't look that's bad. I don't know if panasonic has updated the firmware to fix this problem. It's 2018 and no one talking about gh4 anymore. You give me more confidence when shooting v-log. It has been a year since you had this video, is there any else you would like to recommend? Thank you
@VIPictures16 жыл бұрын
I still own the GH4 and would shoot in v-log if I need to match say EVA1. There is no new firmware for the GH4 unfortunately. Even at 8bit, the v-log is usable for online distribution of video as long as you expose well and you don't push the grade excessively. By exposing well I mean right ( not over as some suggest).
@pieterpauwelbeelaerts59956 жыл бұрын
Other then the wonders of nature, this clip doesn't convince me at all for renting/buying the EVA 1 for filming a real low budget docu/film with it that you don't post on youtube, but sell on amazon prime, local television or -even- netflix, real work. In fact, even the official trailer of panasonic doesn't convince me for that kind of work. The infrared mode does!
@VIPictures16 жыл бұрын
Glad to see that there is something you like about the camera. Best of luck with choosing gear for your project.
@pieterpauwelbeelaerts59956 жыл бұрын
@@VIPictures1 thanks. I do like the super 35 filming too, but trying to decide if it is worthwile upgrading from GH5 mirrorless if you can add a speedbooster and anamorphic lenses (check neumann films)... Yes this is a real cinema camera, but the codecs are the same as GH5 and this beast costs so much more that you can invest in other things like fresnel lights, gimbals and anamorphic lenses. For me it is a choice between Infrared and 14 stops v-log 10-bit 5,7k or 12-stops 10-bit h265 5k in anamorphic. btw It probably will be rent all extra gear except GH5 (:
@VIPictures16 жыл бұрын
@@pieterpauwelbeelaerts5995 I see your predicament. Tough choice indeed but it looks like you have worked it out. If you need to use anamorphic glass often, the GH5 would be a better/wiser option. I upgraded from GH4 (which I kept) but in my case, the choice was easy. Better DR, better low light, better audio, SDI out and internal ND were the decisive 5 factors for me.

VIPictures ..thanks for getting back to me and your feedback.. Yes, I would agree based on your footage and only a few others that I seen from EVA..that also look great! ...... That just means the other footages... from other users that didnt look too good, was because they dont know how to expose or proper white balance..etc.. I guess im gonna pull the trigger and buy this camera. I used to shoot with GH4..and before that ..AF100.. Im so glad, Panasonic finally gave us a cinema camera we can afford.. Thanks again...and God Bless..

Thanks Colin, I am glad you like the video. I use zebra stripes to help me expose in challenging conditions. I have set zebra1 to 95%, zebra2 to 65% and assigned it to Fn4 button at the back of the camera. That way I can cycle between them, check exposure and adjust as needed. Zebra2 is for skin tones outdoors (bright conditions). I use mostly Standard and Natural profiles and grade in DaVinci Resolve.

@VIPictures17 жыл бұрын
Hi Marcos, my pick will be the G85. The reasons are many, but here are 5 of the most important features for me: 1. Great IBIS. 2. Works great at high temperatures (38+ is not a problem). 3. Wide variety of lenses (cheaper too) 4. Great image. 5. Nicely featured for video. I hope this helps :)

your grading in this video is beautiful. can I ask what your workflow looks like? what picture mode is the G85 in? are you using any LUTs?
@VIPictures17 жыл бұрын
Hi and thank you for the nice comment. I shoot in AWB and use mainly natural profile with contrast and sharpness dialled down. I grade in DaVinci Resolve and usually don’t use luts. Sometimes I will go for film stock emulation on the completed movie, but not too often. When I do that, I mix it in gently with my grade (20-30% lut strength). In general, I aim to achieve the desired look just with a few nodes of correction. I hope this helps.
