I'm a little surprised that you were more or less "meh" about the Dobyns Champion 732. That's the one rod in the Champion line that is actually an Extreme blank. It was made from the Extreme 742 and a 1/2" was cut off and relabeled as a Champion. It should be more sensitive than anything else in the Champion line. That said, not every rod is gonna blow everyone away. And if you're looking to move it, hit me up. Maybe we can make a deal. Keep fishing and enjoy this season. 👍

Stuck between this or the rebellion. I can get the tatula but the rebels outt stock. You think it’s a drastic change in sensitivity between the two?
@cousinsfishing19702 жыл бұрын
I’ve never used the Rebellion but I’ve heard great things. It is along the same lines as a Zodias which is definitely a step up from the Tatula. The Tatula is a great rod, but I’d put money on the Rebellion being a much better rod.

Nice catch! Thanks for doing the review! I've been debating between the Tatula and the Elite models. I like the looks of the cork handles a bit better. I think the blanks are all the same except for the cosmetics and the guides. What do you think?
@cousinsfishing19702 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the video! My understanding is that the blanks are the same. The only differences are things like guides and handle materials. I still love the rod and use it daily so I highly recommend it. I also like the cork way more than the foam.

I really hope you don’t think that the sensitivity of a rod has to do with it being either a heavy or medium heavy power. The fact that a Dobyns colt not being all that sensitive has to do with it being an $80 rod. The more money you pay for a rod the higher quality of a rod blank you get which increases the sensitivity of the rod. I hope when you do reviews in the future you’re a little more knowledgeable about the products you’re reviewing. Doesn’t do your subscribers any good to review something your not fully educated on. Dobyns also rates their rods on the lighter end of the spectrum so a Dobyns heavy rod would typically be a medium heavy rod to another rod company, but that’s also because Dobyns uses higher grade material in their blanks making them more durable, sensitive, and stronger than other rods at that price point. If your going to buy Dobyns rods (which I recommend you do) buy colts for your topwater/reaction baits since they don’t require the sensitivity, and spend a little more money for a fury or sierra and use those for you bottom contact lures. Like Texas rigs and jigs that require the sensitivity that you need.
@cousinsfishing19702 жыл бұрын
I know all of this. My wording was confusing but I got my point across, it’s not a sensitive rod. I know more about blanks than 90% of bass fisherman, which also means i know how sensitive Dobyns rods are compared to other rods. And quite frankly, Dobyns rods aren’t sensitive. They’re blanks are cheap. This is why I hate the “cult” mentality around the bass fishing industry. People are biased and don’t realize there’s better products than Dobyns.
@asc79122 жыл бұрын
Ok here we go…..the fact that you think you know more about blanks than 90% of bass fisherman tells me your absolutely full of shit. And it’s not cult mentality it’s what works for some and doesn’t for others. I have a buddy who fishes g loomis. And I am not crazy about them. It’s called preference. Dobyns are plenty sensitive they may just not be for you. (But you know that, seeing as you know more a long blanks than 90% of bass fisherman.) do yourself a favor and put the camera down to go practice and study…you need it

have run my RT 178 (2013 model) on TN river lakes (chickamaua, guntersville, nickajack and a bunch of others down here in the Southeast) handles water well. you will love it. Fishes better than great and can hold longer rods (I get up to 7.5 foot rods in mine). I did get the 75 optimax with mine and 'cruise' at 4900 - 4950 rpms (30-31mph GPS). have it upgraded with Lowrance HDS Gen2 touch units bow and console. side imaging on console. 80lb Ultrex with spot lock. on-board 3-bank charger... new marine master trailer. available for sale if anyone is interested. :) ;) nothing but good things to say about the RT series. specifically the RT 178. won't necessarily be a tournament boat for anyone on 'big water' but it fishes great with two, up to 3 people in it. and handles perfectly for anyone out by themselves. easy to load, easy to trailer. just a wonderful 'little' boat that fishes way bigger than it looks. congratulations!
