Funny thing is: Space Rangers 2 did RTS mini-game with ability (just the ability - not obligation) to control ANY single unit with any POV you like. And that's what made robot battles so cool so ahead of the time. It's like all those MOBA-alike hero shooter but invented by some indie guys back in 2000s. Now that I know about silica... Well... Good ideas needs time I guess.

What a nonsensical video. This sounds like if you said that fps games are dying because they haven't innovated into motion capture or something. Look at broodwar, it has no dlc no patches yet it's evolving with new strategies every year. People aren't playing because there haven't been any good new games (emphasis on good), but there's like 3-4 in development from ex blizzard and similar. This is like calling fighting games dead during the early 2000s before sf4 came out , but all it took was a single game to pop off to prove this genre is profitable and so now there's a ton of fighting games of every kind. I'm not saying rts is gonna be the biggest thing ever or that it's definitely going to 'come back to the spotlight ', but it just sounds like you're an omega casual that isn't interested in the original rts if you really think 'avoiding base building and getting into the good stuff of combat' then you just don't have a clue and shouldn't be speaking about rts. Base building IS the rts. Macro is the rts. Balancing micro and macro is the rts. I'm sorry you dont like it.

Honestly, if you aren’t obsessed with ultra graphics, consider to just buy a €300-400 mini PC with Steam, HDMI it up to the TV and Bluetooth it up to an XBOX controller. There is even something to be said for having a BT mouse and keyboard on a laptop cushion and playing pure PC-only grand strategy and 4X’s from the couch. Minisforum and similar are perfect for this, the latest Ryzen CPUs with integrated graphics are now at the level of the 1070, so will play current gen games like Metaphor.

If a publisher makes sure their games are fully supported on Linux, I'd consider buying directly from them. Until then, Valve deserves their 30% cut, because they're the reason I can even play the game on Linux.

He said 'avoiding base building and focusing on what's really fun - the combat', he has no clue. Macro is the rts. Balancing micro and macro is the rts. If you think base building is boring then it just means you shouldn't talk about rts. This video is awful
@misterfister771411 күн бұрын
@@GFClocked Yes i agree, base building is very important aspect of RTS games, its not necessarily fun, but it give meaning to the conflict involved on map. Base building often requires some sense of exploits to be efficient so it can't be fun, however some games that don't restrict you to resource gathering allow you more freedom for example BFME resource gathering is static and doesn't require workers to have short paths and optimal placements, however they do require planning so your base doesn't get wrecked with one well placed spell so it depends how you look at it, in general base building is not that fun, but it does bring more joy and meaning to the conflict on map i would say, weather it is planning or optimization/exploit it gives meaning to the otherwise plain conflict. Some games relay highly on layout of your base and will often determine outcome of the game, so there is also that, it depends from game to game.

i think the real issue with current RTS games is how formulaic the combat is. in AoE2 you predominatly see players even at high ranks go right for castle/ imperial age, rarely will players utilize the units they have at their current disposal you MIGHT see a play use calvery to attack your eco but thats the majorty of the gameplay. Same goes for SC2 players typically dont attack when ever and look for moments to be annoying they just sit behind defences till they have a death ball of units then they push. If you want RTS games to change i think their needs to be more variety to strategies rather then the 1 or 2 that win the game no matter what.

I know I commented a few weeks ago. I watched this video again. I have both and Xbox One s and Playstation 5. The thing that killed Playstation was Sony removing the community feature. Xbox is crashing and burning because of the lack of moderation on Xbox Looking For Group Posts. Microsoft has been bashed by its own fanbase because of how toxic LFG is. The PC master race Nerds killed off PC gaming due to toxicity. Bad corporate decisions lead to entire gaming communities collapsing because not enough Toxic trollls are being banned.

Funny, because I remember playing Resident Evil 2 and 3 for PS1, it scared me a lot, but nothing like Shadow of The Colossus did at the time. I love the game, tough.

i've stopped being on consoles after they stopped supporting CRT TVs especially for Rhythm Games like DanceDanceRevolution being completely unplayable on a modern TV due to input lag and not all DDR games has a calibration setting and it was so frustrating to deal with, dat i went full on Gaming PC just because of those issues alone also i'm not payin' for a subscription fee for online play and no i will not do gamepass, heck i already have a hard time keepin' up with Amazon Prime rn, so it's why i wait for discounts because i stopped caring about launch releases after Guitar Hero Smash Hits and just get games on a discount or sometimes if they're offered for free, i'll grab them oh and Abandonware is almost endless on PC and tha best thing about PC when parts get too slow overtime, i could just recycle it for non gaming tasks in ways consoles couldn't do however i do get a XBOX controller for my PC just because i refuse to play a racing game on a keyboard, yes i know there's a racing wheel but not alot of people have space for a racing wheel lol

I see consoles losing their subsidies and rising in both cost and quality to create a new middle tier for gamers who want the living room experience at high fidelity. PC will remain the enthusiast tier of gamers and streaming will be the new entry level option. I know a lot of people roll their eyes when I say that, but the technology is ready and infrastructure is too, in most places. All it would take is a big marketing push from established brands to push it to the forefront for casual gamers.
@Thornskade2 ай бұрын
@@ZTriggerGaming If Valve makes the Steam Deck but as a box without the display, i.e. a console or Steam Machine then surely that will cause a shift in the industry. It definitely already isn't true that it's enthusiast grade, a lot of PC gamers are highly casual. Additionally some of the biggest games on the market are PC-exclusive like League of Legends. Most people who buy laptops today to play games are not enthusiasts

I largely disagree because i have only accessed consoles games by renting consoles & games as they were not available officially here or were too expensive for common consumers. On PC i learned abt. unofficial games, abandandonware & flash games which used to be my jam back then. Exclusivity hurts esp. in the long run thus i am an advocate for timed exclusivity 1-2 yrs. max.

@@Thornskade It started with games like Half Life 2 before 2004-2006: it was a PC thing before the consoles followed suit massively in the PS4 era. PS3 had DLCs but the patches were still limited in size many console owners did not have massive internet coverage, hence the Xbox One debacle: Don Mattrick said it best: there's a product for console owners with limited internet: Xbox360. Before the PS4 era you could play a disc game out of the box without much faffing about.
