Flo-mo has some amazing designs, I've personally built a few of them. Baby being my favorite so far. I took her down a 6 mile stretch of the San Antonio river just this weekend and it performed quite well with a 200lb load.

Hey, I couldn't find any other way to contact you regarding a question about 14ft solo-canoe you have designed; What is maximum payload for the design? I have Ashes canoe plans and there is marked total displacement for few different waterline-depths (3inch - 235lbs, 4inch 340lbs and so on-...) Reason I'm asking this, is I can't think if I should go with 14ft or 16ft design... Thank you for the reply!

Hello.. Thank you for this free design.. I am from Iraq and I made one similar to your design, but I suffered from the poor quality of the materials I used. In my country I couldn't get good materials. I also changed some of the design and made it a two-piece. I will post it on my channel soon after putting the finishing touches on it. Once again thank you..

The second to last sample bonded decently. Does it say "Wire"? Also, did you lightly sand with 40 grit or heavily? Thanks
@flomoflowingmotion Жыл бұрын
Yes, the surface was roughened with a wire brush. A lot of material can be removed quickly with the 40 grit sandpaper. However, the goal is only to roughen the surface uniformly. Relatively little pressure is sufficient for this. If the pressure is too high, small pieces are torn out of the surface, which may lead to a better bond, but also to a higher consumption of epoxy during lamination.

Use pp polypropylene strips as the skeleton, use 5mm thick pvc foam boards, process the pvc foam boards into strips, and build them according to the traditional wooden boat craft, which can make your ideal perfect curve. The outside of the hull is also covered with 0.45mm thick solid wood strips, and the outside is protected with glass fiber, coated with transparent epoxy resin, and the outermost layer is coated with transparent polyurethane topcoat. Estimate the weight and shape that will achieve your desired results.
@VLOGS-skyun Жыл бұрын
Your forum has not posted new information for a long time. I am an architectural designer, the characteristics of XPS, the separation characteristics of XPS foam, I only use XPS in the basement foundation and basement exterior walls in architectural design. For your 20ft dinghy, I personally think weight and sturdiness are the most important things to invest in. PVC foam board, carbon fiber, Kevlar fiber can be used in the length direction of the bottom of the boat. The price of my 15mm density 0.8 pvc foam board here is about $40. The price of oak veneer 500mmx150mmx0.45mm is 2 dollars and 10 sheets. The above is for reference only.

hello flo-mo is 2 years that I am studying your videos and I have already tried to make your canoe gorewood 16 in paper! really spectacular ! I am now subscribed to your channel and I am really happy to see that you are back and that you are still working on new projects. I already wanted to try to contact you but on your site I couldn’t find an email, if it’s not a problem for you I write here . I read almost all your forums but I couldn’t understand how you came to create the 2D drawing i whis write that I really enjoyed the design of the gorewood 14 which is very similar to my "Nova Manitoba " ( already modified with yoke and performace sit ) and I use it very willingly even in white water alone , but I also see the limits of this canoe that a low edge and water embarks too easily , I wanted to modify your project to get to a canoe similar to the Novacraft prospector 17 which is a boat that I used and is really multipurpose and functional , where I would feel safer to carry my small children without risking. how can I create the project in 2D starting from the canoe? ( I found a friend who lends it to me ) Thank you so much for your work and that you share it.
@flomoflowingmotion2 жыл бұрын
I am not sure if I have understood the question correctly, but will try to answer it according to my understanding. To the best of my knowledge, there is no mathematical method to create an equivalent Gorewood construction version from an existing canoe design. The 2D patterns for the Gorewood canoes are created through a process of trial and error based on a series of scale models. Although I try to build these models as accurately as possible, there is no guarantee that the final full scale canoe will exactly match the model. There are simply too many factors that affect the way the hull turns out, so no two canoes based on the same design will turn out identical. The differences won't be huge and probably won't be noticed by most users, but I at least don't want to hide this aspect. Since I have built numerous different Gorewood canoes, I can also make some statements regarding new designs, but these can only really be verified when there is a finished version of them. Of the Gorewood canoes I have built, the Gorewood Cottage Cruiser is probably the closest match to the Novacraft prospector 17, but this design is only 16 feet long and more complicated to build than the others. If you would like we can continue the conversation via email. Here is my somewhat cryptic email address (I hope you can decipher it): stefanordelt[at]gmx[dot]at Best regards, Stefan
