I am actually listening the sonata with sheet music of the exact same piece.

I think I know why it is called “the hunt” ! Maybe because the theme of the first movement is kinda like a horn that you use in hunting.

I think this is my favorite piece by Schumann, and one of my favorite works of all time. No other piece of music has been able to make me cry so consistently as when I listen to these variations, especially knowing the story behind their publication. Sad, haunting, beautiful, peaceful and restful. Schumann’s farewell to the world

This is not only the greatest Sonata he ever written. It is also his greatest work and his greatest legacy.

I don't really get Rachmaninoff. His music doesn't excite me most of the time. I'm not being a hater, as I respect his genius works, but I think his stuff isn't for me. I don't mind if everyone else likes Rach.

If you have the musical training and piano facility, it's really worth plunking through this piece with the Busoni and the original Bach open side-by-side and asking yourself what problems you'd have to solve in transplanting this from organ to piano. Doing that with this and the St. Anne Prelude and Fugue (which is my favorite Bach organ work) gained me a new appreciation of how creative Busoni had to get as a pianist in order to solve the problems presented to him, and you start seeing the logic in the changes and additions he made. He does a remarkable job of preserving the musical essence of the organ piece. He only recorded his "Nun Freut Euch" and transcription himself but it's worth looking up. It's really incredible how delicately and carefully he plays - it changed my perception of not only these pieces but of him as a musician, as that transcription in particular is usually played pretty robotically with the melody being banged out, and his is totally different.
It’s well worth paying the small monthly fee for KZbin premium so you don’t get any ads. I use it every day. After all this music is priceless and the performers and composers if alive deserve some modest income.

A marvel of a piece, this ! So intense and angry, but also soft and contemplative ! World War One was the beginning of the most violent century in modern times; full of transgression and dissonance, as well as creativity. "a fusion of classical discipline & economy with coloristic imagination of the highest order" ! I love that !

Thank you Ashish for this wonderful upload! Wonderful rendition of this gorgeous piece, not sure which version (Schumann an earlier version of the Rondo, but according to his wife it was too difficult to understand or play) i prefer more...

2:01:05 the voicing techniques and fluidity textures here are just incredible from Kissin, this really evokes a strong expression and feeling of snow-whirls, the louder the chromatic scales get, the more intense the snow whirls in a snowstorm are occurring unexpectedly. Voicing here really highlights the incredible mood of the piece when your eyes are closed imagining your in Antarctica unexpectedly encountering a snowstorm 🌊🌨️💨❗️
