I seen a video with the LS 1 motor that until the piston warms up it can slap around in the steel sleeve bore. So gradual warm up of the piston to expand at a different rate than the cylinders steel sleeves.

@@YourMotorCare Yes, but where do you draw the line on what is "severe" ?? To be SAFE, we must consider ALL EXHAUST LEAKS as "severe" -- because they are all DEADLY. Of course, we could FAFO, but that ain't ever a good idea. 😁

The vast majority of wear on a motor happens on the first ten seconds of running. Running at high rpm when cold wears the motor out quicker so you buy a new car sooner. I start mine, carburetted car, I keep it running but at low rpm for a solid minute then I pull out choke knob for a bit of high idle for a few minutes. 30 years since I built them and still running well.

One time the muffler lost the welding with the main pipe and almost fall on motorway , I was very concerned if that happened and a tailgaiter behind will have a bad accident. Luckily the muffler kept in position due the rubbers. I always put new rubbers. The muffler failed due bad welding from the manufacture.

Almost ALL stock mufflers will rust through, especially where the motorways are salted in Winter. I've found that the MagnaFlow Glasspack mufflers will stand up to the worst salty conditions for many years, with not even a hint of a leak or a rusted-out spot. The MagnaFlow's straight-through design allows for more performance and better fuel economy, although gains are minimal. Pro Tip: The LONGER the Glasspack Muffler, the QUIETER it sounds on the road.

This seems bogus and like pure fear mongering. I've used tire plugs like these for years. - if it seals the tire from air getting out, no moisture is going to seep in and ruin and rust the steel belts. - its not like tires last for decades. The plug is likely going to perfectly last until you get new tires - I've never had one of these fail on me yet

Hi I have power every thing ok 330.000 klm engine taping when accelerating it’s a Opel Astra 1.7 H 2005
@YourMotorCare
@YourMotorCare 12 күн бұрын
This likely indicates hydraulic lifter issues - a common problem in high-mileage engines. The tapping occurs because worn lifters aren't maintaining proper contact with the camshaft. I'd recommend first checking your oil level and quality, as poor oil maintenance often causes lifter problems. If oil is fine, you'll want a mechanic to inspect the hydraulic lifters and possibly replace them. They can also check for related issues like worn cam lobes or rocker arms that could be contributing to the noise.

@ just done oil filters my self when car is in neutral I add gas no noise when I put on gear and give gas I hear noise any way well open when is ready to change next oil is a working car any way is it ok if I still drive it like that pulls drives perfect just the taping noise when I drive
@YourMotorCare
@YourMotorCare 8 күн бұрын
If the noise only occurs under load (in gear) but not in neutral, and the car runs/pulls well otherwise, it's likely safe to continue driving for now. Just keep an eye on your oil level between changes and listen for any changes in the noise. While it's not an immediate emergency, plan to have it checked when convenient since worn lifters can eventually affect valve operation.

I also have loss of power especially when the ac is turned on, stalling jerking mostly when going uphill. I have code P0420. I have changed the catalytic converter but still experiencing the same symptoms
@YourMotorCare
@YourMotorCare 8 күн бұрын
Sounds like you might have a clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump, especially since the symptoms worsen under load (AC and hills). The P0420 could be triggered by faulty O2 sensors even with the new cat. Have these checked - they're typically cheaper fixes than the catalytic converter.

@@Nyckaka The muffler has nothing to do with loss of power , stalling or idling . If the oxygen sensor code is showing , which means there's something wrong in the engine itself . I prefer the duplex roller timing chain over the cogged belt. Must change oil on a frequent schedule to get the most life from the chain and the engine as a whole. Some newer engines have a simplex roller chain and if the quality is there, time will give the verdict on that scenario for durability. Owned a 123 body Mercedes Benz 300D coupe diesel 5 cylinder which had the duplex chain and it was still just fine with close to 500,000 miles, a belt would never get there.
