I have a 71 dart with a BB 383, running on av gas. I have electric cutouts, but I 90% of the time run on open headders.

How do you check for non obvious leaks?
@8899768893 күн бұрын
Usually can see it coming out the tailpipe, the pattern of your smoke
@SlikLizrd2 күн бұрын
The EASIEST method is to start the engine and LISTEN under the vehicle with the Tail-Pipe blocked off.
@liquidh52262 күн бұрын
@SlikLizrd so use something to cover the tailpipe? I have 2 so cover both? And see if smoke goes out elsewhere?
@SlikLizrd2 күн бұрын
@@liquidh5226 If you have dual exhaust pipes, you cover ONE pipe at a time. I use a wet sponge to cover the end of the pipe. We're not looking for SMOKE -- we're looking for escaping gasses that are not easily visible. Good luck !!

One time the muffler lost the welding with the main pipe and almost fall on motorway , I was very concerned if that happened and a tailgaiter behind will have a bad accident. Luckily the muffler kept in position due the rubbers. I always put new rubbers. The muffler failed due bad welding from the manufacture.

Almost ALL stock mufflers will rust through, especially where the motorways are salted in Winter. I've found that the MagnaFlow Glasspack mufflers will stand up to the worst salty conditions for many years, with not even a hint of a leak or a rusted-out spot. The MagnaFlow's straight-through design allows for more performance and better fuel economy, although gains are minimal. Pro Tip: The LONGER the Glasspack Muffler, the QUIETER it sounds on the road.

I drove almost 10 years with a leak and I'm still conscious, albeit I live in Florida and rust takes forever to adhere, the truck is 21 years old with the same exhaust since new, I just had the leak fixed it was a gasket that's it lol.

10 years with an Exhaust Leak !?? You're not REALLY conscious, are ya !??

@SlikLizrd swear to God 10 years, it is a Dakota pickup so it wouldn't have been exposed to the cab as if it were a car

@@deandecastro7081 I ain't doubting your WORD, man -- I'm doubting your sanity. 😁 Carbon Monoxide doesn't know or care whether you drive a car, truck, boat, or airplane -- it's gonna KILL you if you give it a chance. DON'T give it a chance !! 😁

How long can you SAFELY drive with an Exhaust Leak !?? Exactly ZERO miles !! As soon as you find it, FIX IT !! The life you save may owe me money !!
@joecog89493 күн бұрын
50 miles, 100 miles. lol My break starts at the CC. Yes, I get 10-12 mpg. Don't care. The cost of replacing everything is more than the vehicle. New vehicles are yacht worthy.

People….people…people Just how stupid are you? If you’re getting exhaust fumes, inside your vehicle, then ya may wanna have your exhaust system checked… But, if you’re NOT GETTING EXHAUST FUMES IN YOUR VEHICLE…why the Hell are you so scared and worried.
@8899768893 күн бұрын
100 miles ? Lmao that’s cute. Been driving thousands with an exhaust leak no issues. It’s a mild one sure but to say 100 miles isn’t really truthful
@YourMotorCare2 күн бұрын
It depends upon severity i think
@SlikLizrd2 күн бұрын
@@YourMotorCare Yes, but where do you draw the line on what is "severe" ?? To be SAFE, we must consider ALL EXHAUST LEAKS as "severe" -- because they are all DEADLY. Of course, we could FAFO, but that ain't ever a good idea. 😁
@SlikLizrdКүн бұрын
@@YourMotorCare YES, and because severity IS a factor, the "100 Miles" comment is NOT a good idea. For maximum SAFETY, Exhaust Leaks should be repaired IMMEDIATELY upon discovery. In other words: "Git 'er DONE !"
