At 7:17 where the description of how the ebrake lever is assembled to the rear shoe it is absolutely imperative that a wavy (spring) washer is placed under the head of the pin. This is for the purpose of holding the lever closely to the shoe so that it won't move outward. It should only move backward and forward, not outward because of a sloppy fit. The ebrake will not hold when a sloppy fit lever is assembled.

I often have a problem that when the engine is warmed up and I turn it off, fuel immediately starts leaking through the emulsion tubes into the throat (barrels). It is then very difficult to start the engine.

What fan shroud is that?

There is a definite reason why that water tank has an angled/beveled side to it. Notice that your Camper Bus is a non-walk thru Bus and the wall that separates the forward and rearward cabins is where the spare tire is stored in that tire-shaped "hump in the wall" protruding rearward. The tank can't be perfectly rectangular there against the tire hump, and so they developed a tank with that beveled edge to clear the "hump" and allow the whole icebox assembly to fit back against the wall. Oh, and there is no "sink" at all in that unit. Nice job otherwise explaining your fix to your icebox water tank issues!

The small screws with the lock nut are importantly to properly tune umpire carbs. They balance the thoat air intake and they can affect the high performance if one throat is drawing more air. Easy to adjust if you can get to them in the car. Also, if your linkage is not adjusted your carbs will not be in sync when over 3000 RPM’S. Have someone sit in the car and hold 3000 RPM and test that the snails are equal. My take. I have learned to tone my three throat Webers that way. Great starting point I must admit.

I just disocovered a video on the 2024 trip. What a hoot! Then I watched this one. You guys have a great comaraderie. I never would of suspected a community of these older beater VW buses, but clearly there is one. You guys rock! I previously thought that all these had been gobbled up by restorers or lowered. Glad to see you guys taking them and living with them! Thanks for adding the captions to explain things, it adds to the experience. I now have a bad case of VW split window envy.

I’m in the same exact situation. Disc brakes on the front 5x205 and 5x130 . I’d like to take advantage of the 5x130 option without putting disc brakes on the rear or adapters . And the original master cylinder should work if your only running disc brakes on the front . I have a ragtop as well, 63’ . What’s the contact info for Daniel at Oak Hill ? Thanks

For the big Webers, do you still turn the screw a half turn in after you find the highest idle or is that only for the small webers?
