She recorded the role with Corelli as Chenier. Her discography includes La Traviata (Di Stefano & Gobbi); Two Don Carlo, la Boheme, Un Ballo in Maschera, Tosca, Linda di Chamounix, etc. the only Italian soprano who performed 💯🙏🌷🏆 ALL Verdi and Puccini Heroines.

She is a fine singer (far better than most sopranos today) but unlike Muzio, Callas, Tebaldi, Zeani , Gheorghiu lacks a distinctive timbre. It would be difficult to identify her on a "name that voice" panel..

Great performer. Pity she's not better known. I only got to know her through seeing It's Always Fair Weather recently--I love her rendition of "Thanks But No Thanks." A lot of fun. Her voice had both power and finesse. And she was statuesque and moved with skill, if not exactly a dancer. I found out she only made four films but was mainly a Broadway performer. Even so, she doesn't seem to have been in a big enough hit to put her over in the public consciousness like Ethel Merman or Mary Martin, or Judy Garland in film. I like the Judy Garland version of this song, of course, but Gray gives it her own spin here. Wonderful.

What streisand had was the wistful yearning and longing that Horne wuth all her trained vocal heft completely misses.

Janet was so real in this interview. This was before she changed her eyes and started speaking in the much slower more withdrawn voice that she uses now. Kathleen Battle no surprise is phenomenal on the song.

Always thought Arroyo was underrated. She is a lovely woman with great musicality, intelligens and humor, and I absolutely adore her gorgeous voice, but perhaps she is a little "stiff" sometimes? As in her famous Donna Anna from the recording of Don Giovanni with Colin Davis - her voice is SPECTACULAR, but am I unfair when I say that if her Anna had been a little more passonately raw and loving, she would even be greater?

The both sound like boy sopranos. It’s a quality with all of this music that can go this way easily. It’s not my favorite way but it has the effect of making them she two singers sound like one weird twisting ethereal voice. With no text or context just beyond the clouds.

Her artistry is as musical and refined as a woman who has a stall at the fair selling fish, her phrasing like that of a newsboy, more commoner and more cheesy she cannot be and the voice: a chicken. minute 2:00 campy, she is ridiculous

Just saw this on reruns....spectacular voice. Is it me or is Jack Klugman close to tears here? The camera kept showing his face, he clearly looks moved. Randall not so much.
