Hey Bonnie, congrats on getting to a more healthy state. I'm also a graves sufferer, having had rai in October of last year, so, 5 or 6 months ago. It's driving me nuts because I am still hyper. They say that I may need another dose...that the last dose was minimal. I wish I can go back to meds management but I don't think I have that option. The dose I had was small and I lost 40 lbs. from the radiation, maybe I was allergic. I don't know. I don't blame you for not wanting to go that route. The reason I wanted to reach out, there is a new treatment out there called rfi. It's done with a laser and most effective for symptoms of Graves. There is a gal on UTUBE and other socials: "it's me Jen again," is her screen name. Check it out! It may be an alternative treatment that isn't as frightening and radiation or surgery. So, best of luck and I'm with you on this!

I have graves with osteoporosis in my spine. My endo is scheduling me for bone density scan. I had to wear a heart monitor for a week, I had tachycardia for 54% of the time, with some ectopic beats.

When you have a goiter, you thyroid is storing extra iodine that's why it happens!!!You are clearly iodine deficient!!!. Your physician will deny it,sadly it is true.

Hi Bonnie - I know it's some years back but many thanks for making this brilliant video. I am one of the rare men diagnosed with Graves three months ago - so that's a bit of an exclusive club I didn't plan to join! I think mine was kicked off by an autoimmune reaction to Covid. Currently tapered to 10mg of carbimazole (UK) and just weaned myself off propranolol which is thankfully managing most symptoms but my eyes are sore so maybe developing TED as well :( Actually I loved the propranolol as a total chill pill but not so easy to wean off it. Glad to see you are making such great progress - you are an inspiration! Sending very best wishes.

I was diagnosed today, and I'm 41🙏🏿🙏🏿 I'm so glad I found your video I'm so you're explaining all your details I'm experiencing everything you have. I so believe this happening to me for a long time. Recently, I went to the doctor for swelling in my legs and they said my blood levels were sky high like 565 for my thyroid and went to endocrinologist and she's putting me on medication 💊 . I'm a health freak so I hate medication so this is a deal breaker for me. I pray your well very soon. Peace and blessings sis ✌🏾❤️💫✨️

Do you remember what your labs are? My T3 is 19.6 and my T4 is 6. I was diagnosed a month and a half ago. How are my #’s compared to the rest of you? Is anyone in the chat higher than me?
@ItsBonnieAdams Жыл бұрын
Those are very abnormal results. At my worse, my T4 Free was somewhere between 5 closer to 6. Now I’m about 1.09. My T3 total at my worst was at about 500, which steadily went between high 200s and normal 100s ranges. But now I’m at 95 Please note: Sometimes the labs that are tested are specific to you so I would err on the side of caution when knowing other pueoples labs are in relation to how you feel. One thing my doctor did do was evaluate more of my TSH and TSI levels and antibody levels. It’s not enough to just check your t4 and t3 when you have Graves because if you have hyperthyroid because of the autoimmune condition, your antibodies are what dictates the t4 and t3 levels. (as well as tyrottopin, cbc and hepatic levels, There can be many reasons your t4/t3 levels can be off, so sometimes not enough to evaluate your medication level. Hopefully, that makes sense to you. And all the best with your healing.
@terahble8369 Жыл бұрын
@@ItsBonnieAdams It must be a different T3. I just got new labs after being on beta blockers. My T4 Free, Direct went from a 6 to 4.89, so that is good. The range should be between .82 - 1.77; My TSH still shows there is none…below 0.005; Triiodothyronine (T3) scores 447, the range should be between 71-180; My Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) AB is 468, should be 0-64; Triiodothyronine (T3), free is 19.6, should be 2-4.4. Hope this helps. I’m new at understanding what this all is. MY doctor but me on 40mg of Methimazole and 20mg of Propranolol. The Methimazole gave me Vertigo and hives so he lowered the dose to 20. I understand I have to take something because my resting heart rate has gone up to 138. He keeps pressuring me to take it out or get radiation. At this point I want to give my body what it needs to heal. But at what point is it too much on the heart? Right now I am taking a lot of supplements, cutting out iodine and gluten/soy. Trying to eat lots of broccoli, kale, cabbage.

@@terahble8369apologies for responding to this so late. But I hope you are well and handling your condition better. My advice to you if you are still in the same position is an obvious one but I hope you are seeing an actual endocrinologist specialist. I know many of ppl with this condition get treated by their PCP alone but it’s important to see an expert in this field. Secondly don’t be afraid to get a 2nd please! It is a patient right to obtain all your medical records for yourself. You do not need to say why to you current doctor that you are attempting to obtain a second opinion. You want to note your treatment plans, medications prescribed with dates (HOW your dr decides to change your med amount is crucial with our condition - i described why in my video), symptoms and finally lab results. Surgery and iodine in some cases are not a quick fix and shouldn’t be recommended so early in the game. Update on me I am now on 2.5 mcg of methimazole and hopefully this Friday my dr will classify me in remission. But that goes to tell you in some cases the pills can be administered for many years with proper management and regular labs. Hopefully this helps

Also anyone on Methamizole, you have to make sure to get your blood tests every 5 weeks. This medication causes liver issues/ failure.

Firstly thank you for sharing your story. I’m so sorry you have to battle this and now a second time. How is it that your graves came back? Was your thyroid not completely inactive? Did you feel symptoms the second time now after RAI?
@ItsBonnieAdams2 жыл бұрын
With suitable and careful management Methimazole can be taken for an extended period of times so far I’ve been slightly lucky to be on it still in in micro doses and regular blood checks Avery few months
@celi249502 жыл бұрын
@@ItsBonnieAdams so glad to hear Methamizole is working for you! In my case it was not doing much and it made me gain so much weight. It seemed that for 1 year radiation did it’s thing but in my recent blood it seems that my graves it’s back ( my thyroid is overproducing again). I noticed some symptoms such as hair thinning and shedding, muscle and joint pain ( sometimes extreme), stomach issues , tiredness and eye pressure… no palpitations this time so I thought it was just because of stress. Hopefully you continue doing well with your current health plan.

I've had hyperthyroidism since a teen. As I've gotten older, I'm now experiencing severe symptoms. Anxiety through the roof, extreme weight loss, aches and pains all over etc... I don't have health insurance, so the er visits for the Anxiety ( which I thought were heart attacks) I have to pay for. I'm going the natural route because I can afford it. I've found bugleweed and lemonbalm and it helps. I'm learning to.change my diet and limit stress. This is a roller-coaster of events, but God is with me. Praying for everyone going through this.
