So what do one do when the theme involves sexual intrusive thoughts? Where there's not only intrusive feelings, urges, impulses, ideas etc. But also a strong physical sensation (groinal response, body warming up and so on). How does one go about that? Do you use the same approach? That would be so awful, i could never be okay with imagining and feeling such disgusting things 😔

I know the feeling is horrible, firstly you need to see that the thoughts and feelings are not YOU, if they were you, you would choose not to have them. Because they disgust you it means that you would never do those things, intrusive thoughts and bodily reactions scare you with the OPPOSITE of who you are as it knows how to push your buttons. You need to learn to just laugh at it all, it is only happening to sabotage your life! In this video I never said to imagine that sexual scenario, I said to talk over the top of anything the body is doing with nice things. If its about children, imagine playing a game of catch with a child, whilst repeating the sort of mantras in the video, then build up to actually being around children and perhaps playing a game of catch, whilst continuing to placebo yourself with positive stories and recalibrating the body. (I am assuming this is about children) If it's about adults it's different and probably easier. Hope this helps

Love this. Thank you for the vudeo! Question: What if you have negative harmful urges? How do you get rid of urges?
@pathtoinnerwellness
@pathtoinnerwellness Ай бұрын
You don't need to get rid of them, you just ignore them. It is your subconscious trying to trick you. If you pay it attention it reinforces that it is important, it's like you feed it with your attention. 'what we resist, persists.' Treat it like a parasite and starve the urges, just let them be and focus your attention on things that will improve your life.

@@pathtoinnerwellness True, and how does someone make their mind believe they're stronger than the urges?
@pathtoinnerwellness
@pathtoinnerwellness Ай бұрын
@rachaelvaldivieso3434 when the urges come up, you just sit with them, let the mind do what it does, realise the urges are not you and just talk over the top of them with loving positive thoughts that neutralise the urges "I love myself and others, I would never harm myself or anyone else, I am stronger than any urges, it is not who I am because I am a good loving person who wants the best for everyone" things like this ♥️

@@pathtoinnerwellness Thank you SO much! I love this. Why do harmful negative urges happen, they're so scary and confusing, and the solution is just to ignore them until they starve like you mentioned?
@pathtoinnerwellness
@pathtoinnerwellness Ай бұрын
@rachaelvaldivieso3434 they scare you because your mind is trying to get your attention and make you see that you are emotionally exhausted, eg: if you fear you will harm someone you will stay at home so you don't have the opportunity and hopefully recharge your emotions. Your subconscious mind knows exactly how to get your attention and scares you with the opposite of who you are, because you worry you might harm people it means you won't. All of this sits on top of anxiety, may be worth a watch.

Any chance on a video regarding OCD and hyperawareness? As OCD feels more than just "thoughts", it can manifest in many different forms. Thank you!

I have made a walking meditation about this, which in my experience is pretty effective at desensitizing hyperawareness, let me know if it helps! www.pathtoinnerwellness.com/hyperawareness

@pathtoinnerwellness Thank you, I appreciate it and definitely give it a try. Will this work to help relieve physical symptoms as well? That's also a hyperawareness of mine.

@@kyle-7104 It will train you to be able to focus your attention therefore diverting your hyperawareness. If your hyperaware of your heartbeat, you can focus on a different part of the body, like the feel of the bottom of your feet pressing against the floor when your walking. You can consciously only concentrate on one thing at a time and you'll quickly realise that things are only an issue when your focused on them.

@pathtoinnerwellness Thank you! I tried while walking yesterday, and it kinda worked. I need to put it in motion a bit more. Hopefully it'll become second nature. But as for physical sensations, I truly believe that's what is keeping me stuck. So yes, I'll try focusing on elsewhere. It's took me a while to combat thoughts. I'm much better at it. But I feel OCD keeps upping the game. 🤯

@@kyle-7104 Yeah it takes practice, OCD is extremely sneaky in the ways it tries to keep you trapped. It's repetition of new thoughts and behaviours that over time reprogram the mind. Whilst at the same time ignoring what the OCD is offering you.

Can you make a video talking about somatic ocd swallowing, I always start to swallow alot when I am around people and when I notice they are noticing I put even more attention to it making it more excessive. Its ruining my social life..

I'll try and add it in. If you are having issues with swalling or your throat it often has something to do with not being able to say what you wanted when you were younger. So it may be worth exploring what you may have wanted to say to someone.
