I was very much with you until you said perfectionism and comparison will steal the joy of creating because I don't think that's necessarily true. There needs to be an ebb and flow, sometimes in order to grow those ways of thinking are useful, it just depends on how it's applied. I don't think the creative process can ever be all calm and roses and acceptance, but there needs to be a balance in which you don't allow the desire for perfection to eclipse the enjoyment you get from art. You can be gentle and patient with yourself while working towards a goal based on what your idea of the perfect piece is. You can also learn a lot from comparing your art to artists you look up to, not in the way of belittlement but as a source of inspiration for what you want to achieve. It's just a bit difficult in this day and age of social media and especially if you're relying on art for a living. Many successful artists that share their process were just wildly tenacious and kept practicing and pushing themselves, but most importantly they enjoyed it, because different artists work differently! Some perform better under a bit more pressure while some do best when they can work at a relaxed pace. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this video! Thanks for sharing with us 🩷

Your art videos have inspired me to pursue art again and take an interest in traditional media too. I want to try using acrylic gouache since my art teacher in high school once said I might like gouache, but I never had the chance to try it and seeing you use it made me excited to try using it too. I want to try it soon and get back into sketching in a sketchbook and go after art as passionately as I used to. Love your videos!

Everyone here is wrong (actually illegalmemes and thethetreez are fine) here's the short of it. 1. Yasuke was a real person 2. He was not "just a servant" he was a prominent Bushi (member of the warrior class) but he was Not necessarily samurai, and though we really don't know, many academics (though not all) lean towards No, he was not a true "samurai" though he was a respected and prominant warrior 3. Ass creed should absolutely NOT base the playable characters on real people. Leave the real historical figures as backdrop and set dressing and keep the main plot characters fictional, otherwise it just stirs up unnecessary trouble 4. Yasuke was a terrible character choice for this specific game and was a slap in the face and was absolutely done exclusively for DEI and to cause controversy. An independant game about yasuke would be super cool (see a game like Nioh about William Adams), but this is not an independant project with that luxury of choice, this was Ass creed set in japan, which was very hyped up (undeservedly cause Ubisoft makes shit games these days) and so both western audiences and japanese audiences both felt slapped in the face when one of the 2 playable characters, and the only samurai character, was not fucking japanese lol. And don't even get me started on the issue of multiple choice DEI romance options when the player character is a Real Historical Person

The imperfections are what define the medium and make the art interesting. If I wanted to look at a photograph I could but instead I'm looking at art BECAUSE it isn't flawless.

I think what’s most important is to understand why you are being perfectionistic. To really pin it down. This depends from person to person. I realised that perfectionism allowed me to be untouchable, that if I was perfect, I could not be hurt. This helped me survive as a child. Once I realised that, I could start make the conscious decision to put myself out there, which allowed me to make connections with others and myself.

I appreciate this so much. I knew that there must be other artists who have these thoughts and feelings, but it's super validating to hear someone actually express them. I actually got emotional a few times while listening to this ahaha. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts; I'm really hoping to just *make all the things* this year, and enjoy the process again!! I hope we can all find inspiration and joy in what we create again <3

I feel like perfectionism has taken away huge chunk of my ability to improve. I used to work on pieces that would usually end up have little to no resonation with me, but I always push myself to keep polishing it in areas that I didn’t care at all for because it felt like I “needed” to.

Hello! I was feeling really discouraged to draw because I cant seem to know where to start. It frustrates me because no matter what/how I draw, it just turns out as nothing that I ever expected it to be. I go irritated the point that I wanted to just put back my sketchbook on the shelf so I tried watching/listening to some youtube videos while I draw and I came across your video. It really helped me to push back my perfectionism and calm down so that I can draw using what I've learned so far. I'm really glad that I get to watch this. Thank you so much for sharing this!!!

Yasuke wasn't conclusively known to be a samurai, and he isn't anywhere near a historical legend. We know he existed, we know he was brought to Japan by the Jesuits, and he was made a retainer of Oda Nobunaga, but that's about it. The Yasuke in Shadows is complete fiction. Ubisoft could have just invented a new character, but they couldn't help themselves.

Yasuke wasn't a powerful Samurai, he was a retainer of Oda Nobunaga, and while it's generally "admitted" that he was made a Samurai by Nobunaga, there are very little historical records to confirm it. If he had been a full-fledged Samurai, i doubt that he would've been given back to the Jesuits after Nobunaga's death, which he was.
@Maqlooba395 күн бұрын
You can’t hear or something? She said he was a samurai OF historical legend. Do you know what a legend is? It’s a story that starts off accurate then gets exaggerated over time 🤦🏿♂️ she’s absolutely right. Yasuke was a retainer under oda meaning he was one single level beneath samurai status. Over time his story grew world wide and people started exaggerating his story saying he was 10 feet tall and as strong as 10 men even though he was around 6’2” then people started calling him a samurai.
