My main problem is finding a producer who actually listens to what I'm telling them when I ask for a revision. Idk if it's the program or what, but when I get done early with my studio session I like to take a hour with the producer to mix and master a song, but it seems everytime whoever bounces my song to me there's always something missing, like a missing a echo effect here or a missing dub. It drives me nuts!

FL is for beat makers. Studio One Pro is for producers that actually play keys. A beat maker is not a producer.

From now on I am going to comment on an S1 video everytime the sack of shit crashes on me. Don't waste your money. An absolute buggy bag of tug. This crash I had just saved 10 mins before, did a shit load of tweaking 4 synths I had spent the past hour setting up as a base for, for sound design. Tweaked them all to get sounds spot on and it crashed. Literally the most important 10 minutes that I put a shit ton of effort in to to sculpt the sounds - gone. What is the arrangement? None, no stress on it, no midi, no audio, an empty page. Just 4 empty instrument tracks, no mixer effects, nothing. I could have opened over 30 of that VST in Reason and it wouldn't have crashed. I got S1 5 as a free upgrade because I bought S1 4 at the end of its life. 5 was unusable it crashed so often. All of my software is legal, this isn't any try before you buy shit causing a crash. All my plugins, DAW's, everything legit. So obviously with v5 being so bad I rolled back to v4. V4 still crashes all the time. If you don't hit save every minute, you're at risk of losing stuff. I tried v5 again after years thinking they probably fixed it by now but no. It's a mess still. What do we have now? V6. They left v4 a mess, v5 a big steaming mess and instead of fixing those they made v6. Not a chance in hell I am upgrading with them and I need some functions that aren't in the other versions. Now I need to find £300 so I can crossgrade to Cubase. So to save £200 I bought S1 at £300 instead of Cubase at £500, when I get money to crossgrade it's gonna have cost me £600. Should have just bought Cubase in the first place. Don't waste your money on Studio One. Pre Sonus do not give a shit about you. Go with a company that isn't going to sell you wank DAW. Presonus are dirty cash grabbing, rip off bastards.

Could you expand on the first step? It's not clear what the practical application of the concept is. There's multiple harmonies in her melody, then what?
@ProducingInTheBox4 күн бұрын
I linked the full video in the description. But in the comments here, that’s basically what it means. Multiple harmonies alongside her melody creates chords. Multiple notes at once creates a chord. Actually, just 3 notes is required to make a chord. 2 for a power chord if it’s 5ths. By having the vocals carry a lot of the weight of the chord data, it frees up room in the track.
@Godisgood1375 күн бұрын
I didn’t understand the first step?
@ProducingInTheBox4 күн бұрын
I linked the full video in the description. Definitely go watch it. Essentially, the vocals act like chords. Multiple notes in key = chord. Chord data can come from anything. Finneas chooses to use vocal harmonies along side the melody to fill out the progression.

I made the same switch several years ago. Studio One's Drag and drop ease of use hooked me -- even in the early versions what lacked some essential features -- and the growing feature set has kept me happy. I think not being bogged down by legacy code and UI like Logic and other old DAWs are makes it easier for S1 to improve more rapidly. (Now, if only they can improve their clunky documentation to keep pace! The manual feels like something from the 90's.) Not only is Studio One's workflow faster, it is a lot more intuitive. It just feels like a creative tool for musicians, rather than a computer app designed by software engineers.

I’m testing the trial and just for Dolby Atmos alone, S1 is way better. I couldn’t even monitor my Atmos tracks in Logic because of the known track sync problem. It would bounce correctly, but how could I mix blind with flaming tracks and echos? I was worried about vocal comping, but S1 is almost the same as Logic now. The remote app on iPad is legendary with lyrics that follow along and surround panning. You can also switch the keyboard shortcuts to Logic. For $175 I’m not seeing any reasons not to switch. Besides, I’ll still have Logic.

I've personally tried most DAWS out there, with the exception of Pro Tools and for me 'Reaper' makes life so sweet in regards to customisation, workflow, speed and zero crashing. I feel that a lot of people are driven by aesthetics at the expense of performance. That's my personnal experience, however never limit yourself to one one DAW or one piece of software, they are all tools there to avail of, and never become a narrowminded Fanboy to one brand of company which is unproductive at best, and always remember that we as the consumer are nothing but a drop in ocean to these companies, who would certainly screw us over in the blink of an eye for profit if it ever came to it. Microsoft, Apple, Adobe, or whoever they may be. There's no perfect DAW, and if a DAW works for you stick with it, because that's the perfect DAW for 'you'.

Hey Andrew, S1 is real good, and I believe you are a great producer of course, however....... How come you don't know Cubase is the Dady and Maser of Macros? Don't say Studio One is the only daw that does that because it makes you sound either extremely biased and uninformed, or total newby which we know you are not. Cheers

Make a video on Pop Punk (blink-182, Sum 41 and Green Day) and how the guitar tones and vocals are different than metal. Do an entire video on Pop Punk like you did here. I will appreciate it. I believe headroom on the Master is irrelevant in DAWs: With floating point calculations, adding a gain plugin to reduce the gain before any other effects on the Master accomplishes the same thing.
@ProducingInTheBox9 күн бұрын
You could throw a gain plugin on the chain to fix the issue! But I believe it’s great practice to learn how to maintain levels properly. This teaches us what matters. Just because something is louder doesn’t mean it’s better

FL Studio has years and years of perpetual license model and they still breath and has a strong community. ¿Why Presonus suddenly become a bit codicious? I was about to buy 6.6 but this "update" slow down my decision. Cubase seems a better alternative to me.
